90% of the time I upload pictures to ebay it shrinks them down to 500 x 500
It says the size limit is around 1000-ish
If this is true, why is it shrinking my pictures to 500 and under ?
All the shrink does (besides shrinking them) is make them more blurry.
Does ebay do this to anyone else's pictures ?

Exactly. eBay charges you to host pictures and they look terrible. Use a free photo hosting site like Photobucket and just use simple HTML code in your listing. It's free and looks WAY better.

Yep, self hosting is so much better. You control how your pictures look, how big you want them, how many, and where you want them in your listing. It's much better to do it that way.

It it helps, I use Auctiva.com ( andale) for my pictures and use a program like frontpage to set up the actual listing. You can play with the pictures and keep it as a template so you just have to replace the images and description. It makes a cleaner and more consistant listing for the potential buyers.

The one thing I don't like about Auctiva, as a buyer and ebay browser I find auctions using Auctiva to be very slow loading.
Many times they're so slow i'll just back out and not even view the auction and move on.

i understand. I mainly have used them to host the pictures and create the listing in frontpage. frontpage converts everything to HTML so you can do practically anything with it. I agree I hate those " active" pages. I reallllllyyyy hate the pages that change the mouse point to a cutisy thing.
