And before I get started. Yes, that was an M in front of masses so lets don't go there. :smiley1:
Lets say that you had the cash........and lets also say that you were interested in buying a new 4X4 SUV vehicle.
What would you buy and why would you buy it making it stand out above the rest?
So far my choices are as follows:
Cadillac Escalade ESV
H2
H3
Yukon Denali XL
(although I am not real big on Ford products) F350 Lariat turbo diesel dually crew cab
Jeep Grand Cherokee limited
Now on a seperate note: Lets say the same applied only to sports cars.
My choices are currently:
Viper
Corvette ZR1
2010 Camaro 2SS
(I would have inlcuded the 2010 Trans am instead of the new Camaro) BUT since Pontiac is NOT going to be making one.....
What are your opinions based on what you like and or what you have or had?
Thanks

Cadillac Escalade ESV
Corvette ZR1 (a car that out performs cars that are ten of thousands dollars more)

I would wait a year and get the new styled Grand Cherokee. Its free of the concessions Chryco had to make when the Naz..err, I mean Diamler ran them into the ground. Has the new Pentastar v-6, which will be a gamechanger as well!
As for sports cars, gotta stick with Mopar..Get the Viper. Its a MANS CAR. No sissifyed wanna be with safety this and traction control that...Just motor, tires, and gusto!
First no new cars are a "Mans Car"

Not in to trucks or SUV's so i'll pass on the first question
Now sports cars are more to my liking since i just brought another Corvette to replace the stolen one, Soi i'd go with the 2010 Camaro

Thanks guys for your input so far. :cool_y:
I currently have a Viper. I have had it for some time now. I do like it. I like the name and the body style. However, compared to the newer stuff I don't think it is no where near as powerful as it once was vs the competition at that time. Not when one can buy a new ZR1 that has more HP. I have been debating back and forth whether to get a new Viper or a new Corvette ZR1 or a 2010 Camaro 2SS. I cannot make up my mind and I was hoping that this thread would shed some light on making my final decision. The last thing I want is to get wiped by some punk in a new Camaro 2SS or new ZR1 or something equivelant. This is why I feel I need to upgrade.
At the same time I am also looking at SUV's. I need/want something with some balls as far as an engine goes. I also need something with more space to haul stuff (the two seaters just doesn't cut it) I also need to take into consideration something that will be able to pull my enclosed trailer and boats.
I have had an Escalade NOT and ESV though. I like the Escalade as it is more luxurious. The Yukon Denali XL is GMC's take on the Caddy Escalade I suppose. There does not seem to be a whole lot of difference between the two other than the engine and the name of course.
I have also had an H2 in the past. I really like the size of the H2 vs. the H3's. Plus the engine is much bigger with the H2. Of course it sucks more gas though. I was just wondering if anyone has or had an H3 and may like it over an H2? I am just afraid the power might not be there????
I am generally not a truck person either. Although I had a Chevy dually some time ago. I kind of liked it. I liked it just as bout as well as I could like a truck I suppose.
I seen a Ford 350 Lariat dually crew cab parked at a store the other day. It was BIG and it looked tough. My kind of style in an SUV. I am just not real big into Ford products much. That and I am sure that the gas mileage would be just like most BIG trucks/SUVS.
What to do? What to do? I guess I will have to settle this by going on over to the Market Place and buying some more Mego's from Nayrbgo for the time being. :smiley1:

I would not mind having a tank....Not sure if the powers that be would allow us to buy one though? Does anyone know if and where one can actually buy a tank?
Would a tank fall under the cash for clunkers program? :silly: I guess I could trade my Viper in....I am not sure what kind of gas mileage a tank gets though???? ....Maybe I should just stick with the Viper for now. :smiley1:
For some reason I don't think the gf would be real keen on me trading in my Viper for a tank..
Honey look what I just bought! Besides the tank would be hell on my asphault drive way.
>Not sure if the powers that be would allow us to buy one though?
Most of them require a special license and are classified as trucks; although a full MBT falls under tracked/construction vehicles in most places. ('Cos the treads tear up the road and require special pads.)
>Does anyone know if and where one can actually buy a tank?
They come up for auction every now and then. The Govt. sells off surplus/decomissioned ones. (So don't expect to get a cannon or anything.)
>I am not sure what kind of gas mileage a tank gets though????
Some of 'em take 2l of gas per KM. Mileage is pretty bad.

Thanks Don for the info. I had no idea one could even buy a tank these days (for obvious reasons). I think a cannon is definitely pretty much out of the question. :smiley1: None the less it would still be fun to drive around on the back 40.

My input for what it is worth is that I'm hoping to buy something like a Dodge 1500 King Cab (whatever they call them) and convert it to BioDiesel. I know one guy running a Tractor on BioDiesel he makes on his farm and at the gas pump several weeks ago I overheard two guys talking about a friend who converted his trucks and makes BioDiesel for 19cents/gal.
They said the same guy killed the Electricity at his Business and runs of BioDiesel generators and saves $2000.00/mo from that.
However, I like the 100mpg Hummer as per this news story and company link but I can't look into it for myself now and batteries vs biodiesel may be less enviromentally friendly. My goal is to get off "foreign oil/oil" for my cars and make a contribution that way.

I liked my H2. It was white exterior with grey interior. Just thought maybe something better might exists in the lines of an SUV or 4X4 pickup. Some times I like to mix it up a bit and try new things.
I kind of doubt I would be getting a Charger or Challenger. Even know they are not a bad looking ride. The HEMI would be a definite choice if I were to go that route for sure. I am more of a GM loyal customer as far as Camaro's and Corvettes go. I have had real good memories of both. Not to say that there is anything wrong at all with a Challenger. They are nice looking autos. As a sports car I want something to be really FAST. Not that I am a huge speed demon. It is still nice to know that one has the power at their disposal.

That sounds great. Nice little savings and helping the enviroment out at the same time. I would be for it so long as their was not a huge decrease in HP.
100mpg Hummer
Sad, However almost true. :smiley1: That is the one thing that I do not really miss from having parted with my H2.
Thank you very much for your input. :cool_y:
