    Mego in the Media

From the Los Angeles Times' coverage of Comic-Con,
in a column titled 'In the Market for Collectibles"

Among the other items mentioned, this certainly caught my eye.

"Robin action figure, $200. The 1979 doll from Mego is still in a box that said 'Les Extraordinaires.' Why? 'It's from Canada,' the dealer explained.

I wonder who that dealer could have been. Hmmm.

Mark Huckabone would not have made the mistake of saying it's from Canada. So who would this dealer have been?

Yeah, Mark even knows the guy who brokered the PinPin deal to Toys R Us back in the early eighties, unless one of his assistants said it, there is no way that's Mark.

Very true. And also, he probably wouldn't be selling one for 200 bucks.

It wasn't Mark. The Robin mentioned in the article was at a comic book shop's booth, which had three carded Super-Heroes: ©1976 Superman, ©1979 Pin Pin Robin and a ©1975a Mr. Fantastic.

I got the unpunched, 1st Version Mr. Fantastic for a song and let the other two pieces go. The Superman had significant moisture warping and the mid-grade Robin was... well, just a common Pin Pin. Both Superman and Robin were way overpriced, IMO, while I felt the Mr. F was a great deal.

I assumed if it was Mark, there must have been some sort of misquoting / misinterpretation going on. I certainly didn't mean to question Mark's knowledge, as much as wonder how and who got it wrong.
