I'm sure any of them that Hanna barbera put out like the FF ones might be a licensing thing now that they're owned by Warner

Don't forget that disgraced cartoon where Ben Grimm has been reduced to a kid appropriately named Benjy Grimm and he has a..ahem..."Thing" ring which he turns and with the chant " Thing ring do your thing" he becomes...well the Thing. It was bizaare then, so I can't imagine my reaction if I saw it today, but it was there!:please_y:

The last thing I heard is that Disney owns the entire Marvel Library, except the Hanna Barbera ones. They acquired them through different transactions over the years. For whatever reason Disney wants to sit on these. There apparantly was a suit filed by Marvel towards Disney a fews years back ...........I don't remember the outcome, but they really are in no hurry to release these. Disney always does things backwards anyways, so if anything we will get single discs with a few eps like they are doing with X-men right now. I'm dying to my hands on

Spider-Man & His Amazing Friends
X-men : Pryde Of The X-Men
Hulk (1981)
Robocop ( Yes I liked the cartoon )
Spider-Woman
The Marvel Shorts , Thor, Iron Man, Etc.

One word...DISNEY. They are still in a court battle with Marvel for any and all of the Cartoons that were released Pre-90's.

Hmmmm....

Weird thing, most of those were released on VHS during the late 80's/early 90's; and I've seen digitally remastered versions of a few of them on cable. (Like the '78 Fantastic Four.) So I'm betting SOMEBODY is planning a disk release. Some time.

it doesn't really matter to me. i already have them on bootleg anyway. the hulk and spiderwoman were really bad so i never got those ones but i'm sure there on youtube. the bootleg of the new fantastic 4 has real poor quilty, so i might buy that when it comes out. still i know i'm not the only one who wants to see them released.

I thought many of these were released in Canada, by some other company? I seem to recall it was affiliated with the old VHS video company that put out all of those Marvel VHS tapes in the mid 80s, and that's how they were able to get around Disney via an old legal loophole?

Quality of the all the British Box sets, which includes the 60's Marvel Cartoons, is great...Have them all. If anyone is interested in sets message me. Only DVD sets that haven't been released yet are SpiderWoman, Fantastic Four 70's series, and Spiderman 81/82 series.

Yep...that's why you need to get them from me :grin::grin:

Mine are region free

So far my favorite is still the original 60's Marvel Cartoons. I also got the Silver Surfer cartoons from the 90's, which was recently released in the UK, and that one is starting to be my second favorite of the Marvel Cartoons. Just think of the Surfer Cartoons as Kirby Meets Mobius. Absolutely beautiful...shame they never finished the 2 parter at the end of the series. Thanos in all his glory :enraged:

I loved the "animation" of the 60's shows a kirby still and caps shield or thor's hammer moved across it. BUT every one of the marvel cartoons from the 60's have great themes just as catchy as the spiderman (loved in the casino scene in the new iron man film when the 60's theme is played in the backround)

and marvel's pockets aren't deep enough to win that battle

like DC can't beat fox for the 66 batman rights
