    Dyeing bodies

I have read that bodies can be dyed in boiling water using Rit Dye. What I don't know is if I should disassemble the body first. Does the boiling water damage the elastic bands?

    Hiya Stuart,

If you do not dissasemble the bodies, you will end up with rings where the joints are. Hot water should not damage elastic, but 30 year old elastic might soften up and stretch out. The string style elastic on a T1 might also get a little wear from the water. I would take the limbs and head off at least.
The torso and the limbs (and head) are also made of different plastics and will absorb the dye at different rates. Any stress marks or inconsistencies in the plastic can also be exaggerated by the dye.
I suggest experimenting with a body you are not too concerned about first and you will probably find out all the tricks you need.

    have a good time
