So I was reading a Man From Atlantis comic to my son ( how this kid is popular with a dad like me I'll never know ) and we came to this ad. This one really took me back to a time when Star Wars was all shiny and new, ads like this served as your action figure checklist. The art, provided by the Kubert school is also wonderfully slightly off model, love it!

I remember the ad as well. I was a little disappointed when I saw the actual figures in the stores. I thought to myself "they looked much cooler in the ad."

I remember the ad said "Hans" Solo.

He must be from Austria.

I remember this ad well. I love how the art tries to incorperate the look of the figures on some characters and falls back to the 1 sheet art (Luke and Leia) for the others. Han looks like it came from a photo.

Ah yes, I remember that ad well from comic books of the era. Very cool to see it again, it makes me want to dig up some of my old comics to see what other vintage toy ads I can find.

Yeah, you don't remember his brother Franz Solo.

Terrific ad! Brings back a lot of memories.

Pity the poor Jawa, Death Squad Commander, and Tusken Raider. Probably off at the Cantina drowning their sorrows as they didn't make the cut for this ad...

If memory serves, those three figures weren't in the initial shipments of the first series, they were introduced a bit later. I remember looking everywhere for a Jawa and it seemed like forever before I finally found one (so it was possibly a Kenner strategy to keep kids coming back to the stores, trying to find the delayed figures, and they then ended up buying a different one when they couldn't find them).

Kenner had to wait for them to sober up.
