View Full Version : A proud father: my son's Hawkman

Well this is a proud day for me . . . .
My son finished his first (real) custom figure. Yes dad did help but he painted the head, I touched it up. He cut out the wings, I drew them. At any rate not too bad . . . . I picked up the parts at megomeet from Doc Mego and Bliet. We altered the outfit a little and added the stripes to the boots. Not a hard figure to make at all.
enjoy!

Jim, that's way beyond cool. He's already got the skills and and eye for this stuff. It's even better knowing he can actually play with it if he'd like. Most customizers make show pieces, but this is a functional custom and a great looking one at that.

Excellent figure! If I made a Hawkman I would want mine to look exactly like that. Fantastic execution throughout (especially on the paints). I can see Mego making one just like yours. Your son should be very proud!

Awwwww. That's so neat. My kids just shake their heads while giving me the "crazy old man" look.
I think it's time to apprentice the young man. Get him sweeping the shop floor, threading the sewing machine, and prepping the molds.
That's really cool. Thanks for sharing.

I thank you and Nathan thanks you . . . not a hard figure to do when you have a great suit and head from brian and cool accessories from doc mego. I think that is why he liked it so much as we knocked it out in an evening. These kids today and thier instant gratification needs.

That's so awesome to see. He (and you) did a fantastic job together! You both should be proud. Thanks very much for sharing.
Now that he has a taste for it, I hope that your son will want more! It's like a drug, but a drug that's acceptable... well, my ex-wife would disagree with that, but what does she know?! :smiley1:
My son thinks I'm crazy and a dork or whatever for being into this stuff too. I always wished I could have gotten him interested, but no luck. I also wish I had had a cool dad like you. Your son's a very lucky little man. You guys are a great team. Keep up the great work you guys! :2thumbsup:

It's so great to spend time with your kids, and it's down right freaky fun when they take an interest in something you do. And when it's as "geeky" as making dolls and they still want to do it with you, you know you are lucky. Then to top it all off the custom came out sweet!

ok, I have to add one more. He put this together yesterday. These were the cast off pieces from my Megomeet Dr. Doom and he added a "practice" cape from last year's sherrif. Not a lot to it but he's on a roll.
thanks for all the great replies . . . he's enjoyed reading them!
