I could be wrong, but this looks like startrekfiero's stuff to me. I remeber the pictures of his collection he posted had a mock-up of the naivigation console. Looks like the same thing in this listing.

If he had to own all the items pictured in his book, I guess this means the book isn't going to happen?

I'm sure he got plenty of pictures of them while he owned them. Did his goofy rule forbid selling them afterward?

I still think he was pulling a scam and expected less resistance.

I'm tempted by one or two items and wondered if it was him as well.

And Ant... If I was a betting man, my money would be on you ;)

Thanks for the vote of confidence, Mike, but I'm not the one who identified him. I didn't pay much attention to the pics of his collection when he posted them here, so I wouldn't have made the connection.

Probably trying to save money up for his next project... A Pontiac Fiero modified into a rolling version of the Galileo. :googly:

After being called out on several items, including his knowledge of Trek items, I think the plethora of phasers set on stun made him activate the atavachron and jump through the portal to 1985, when Pontiac Fiero's were still cool. :juggleyes_y:

Very Good point. He may be in 1985 trying to figure out how to make people think they are cool though.

Looks Like The Star Trek Collectible Book May Not Be Happening...

Don't worry, it's still happening, though please check the Mego Buzz section as I have a few questions that hopefully a few of you Mego experts wouldn't mind helping me with :)

That's because no one would be caught dead in them :rotfl:

Sorry, couldn't resist.

If the Trek book gets published and is a runaway bestseller, will the Fiero collectables book be next?? Man, I hope so.

A Fiero book has already been done, so if your interested which I am sure your not, you could always go and find that one to enjoy.

It's interesting how some of you will jump all over someone if they come across as not as knowledgeable on Megos as you think they should be, and yet then start talking trash about something that you are obviously not knowledgeable about at all. Talk about the pot calling the kettle.. :wink_y:

And you are not knowledgable about the history on this, so who are you to talk?

Well, by all means, give us some interesting facts about the Fiero. Like who got fired from Ford for designing that piece of junk.

Thank you for proving my point thunderbolt.

Lets start with the fact that the Fiero was made by Pontiac.

Well, I am not "into" Fieros. What I am into right now though is this collectible book and it would be really great if I could find some knowleagable people who could possibly find it in themselves to be a bit more helpful. I am seriously starting to wonder now if listing the web address to this site in the Mego section of my book to help guide new people here is actually a good idea.

Dude your book is not written so stop throwing aroung the insults. There are a lot of very well informed mego people here. I think a lot of them remember your last approach and it wasn't good. Are you still trying to get people to send you valuable pieces for your book? To many of us you are a newbie who has come here to get info but is doing it the wrong way. I personally think you would get a better response if you scrapped the trek book and wrote about that classic car, the fiero!

That's your major problem right there. You wanted the pieces yourself and went about it completely wrong. What did you expect?

Thank you for proving my point thunderbolt.

Lets start with the fact that the Fiero was made by Pontiac.

See, there you go, you are a Fiero expert. I bow to your vast knowledge of a truly classic car. :rotfl:

Actually, the book is written and the completed manuscript was sent overnight fed ex to the publisher this past Tuesday to make by the deadline.
That is why I was asking some last minute questions due to my deadline. Now the process with the editor begins and any changes she and/or I need to make will go on for about 6 weeks from what I am told.
What am I doing that is the wrong way? Asking questions? Trying to get help?
If this is the kind of reaction many newbies get, then you must have a pretty high turnover which is pretty sad. You obviously don't realize that at any given time you will have "guests", that being visitors who have discovered the site and will read for awhile before possibly joining. I wonder just how many read reactions and responses like yours and decide to pass on becoming a member and posting simply from reading a few insulting replies like yours?
And I was never trying to get anyone to do anything they didn't want to, and asking for free Mego museum cards isn't anything new on this forum but thanks for trying to put words in my mouth. I am certainly not going to fight for the chance to put something of yours or anyone elses in my book.
Also, I guess if anyone has an interest in any thing else other than just Megos or Trek, to you thats a bad thing? Just because I know who made the Fiero and a few other important facts doesn't make me an expert.
This is certainly becoming a pretty aggressively nasty site for being something dedicated to a 70's toy manufacturer. Give me a break. :smiley8:

I went about what completely the wrong way? What exactly was it that you "think" I was expecting?
What I was expecting was members of this site to care, be friendly and helpful, especially on the fact that you all seem to care about making sure the facts and information that is spread and published be as accurate as possible. Is that not a true statement?
I did find a few that were nice and helpful and I am sure that like most other forums the majority on here are just that, but as we all know from time to time it only takes a few to ruin it sometimes.

Ahhh they're just joking around with you....this is THE Mego site, bar none!

It maybe the Mego site, but it is becoming harder to see any of that among the insults and attacks. Joking is one thing and I can take a joke or jab like anyone, but being total jerks just because they can while hiding behind a keyboard and monitor somewhere saying whatever they want with little or no regard to the other person is something else all together.
Yes, I am a Star Trek fan and collector. I am also a Mego fan. One would like to think that this is a cool place to hang out in general, and the fact that I am authoring a book that will have a Mego section one would think would matter to many members of this site and want to make sure it will be as good and accurate as possible. So far I have not seen much of that.
Maybe this site needs a few rules enforced, assuming you have rules that even address this sort of thing? But I am no moderator and far be it for me to try and baby-sit this forum just just to try and get the help and info I was looking for.
I guess I can always try and look elsewhere.

My Apologies if my Fiero pic offended!
Just a good natured jest! :wink_y:
Don't give up on the Forums.
There are a lot of knowledgeable people here and I'm sure they'll be more than happy to help you out with your book .
I'd suggest contacting Benjamin (Imp), Brian (Palitoy) or Scott (Founder/Creator) to get help with some info .

Actually your picture was pretty amusing. I had no problem with the pic.

And thanks for the names of those I can contact.
I did get the info I needed from Palitoy earlier today in the other thread so I think I am ok for now. But I will keep the names handy in case any additional questions on my end may come up

Yes. Me either. I had no idea what a Fiero was, & thought you were into them by reading others posts. I just found the car amusing..., & must confess, I still do. :smiley1:

Good luck with your book.
