View Full Version : Star Trek Figures MAY be on their way soon
I was billed this morning for my shipment of Star Trek figures from Diamond. Assuming they shouldn't bill me until they've been shipped (or at least packed up for shipping), then we might be looking at the week after next for delivery to our customers. I figure these may have come in and been prepared this weekend to go out tomorrow, and UPS usually takes a couple few days. If I get them this week, then I will be preparing them for delivery next weekend.
Cross your fingers.
If I get a UPS tracking number, I will share the expected delivery date in this thread.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, (well, not really bad) but, according to an e-mail I just got from Diamond answering this very question, they won't ship until August 1st.
But he could be wrong. He's a replacement for the other rep I'd been assigned, who apparently just quit, so who knows.

Ordered 2 cases of series 1 and I just ordered 2 cases of series 2. Not getting them this week (Wednesday is the street date for new comics and other items). BTW, I may have a couple of sets left after I take care of a couple of local friends here in NY. If I do, I'll make them available for museum members. Can't tell you how much they will be because I won't know what kind of discount my Comic Dealer will be giving me on the 2 cases until I get them. As of this writing they WON'T be out this week.

I emailed my customer service rep, who wrote back...
They should ship this week, but there isn't a tracking number in the system yet. I will keep monitoring it, and as soon as there is a tracking number, I will let you know what day the delivery is scheduled for.I was originally told that they try to space their shipments out to try and coordinate the delivery dates, so if something takes 5 days, it goes out the day before something that takes 4 days, etc.
I'll llet everyone know when I have a tracking number.

I see the ST Space Seed 2-pack on the list for this week, but no Kirk and Klingon.

This is all new to me as a new Diamond dealer, but I am guessing there may not have been enough time to get these out in time with regular deliveries for this week. It will be interesting to see how long they sit on them after billing for them though.

I looked on the diamond website and can't even find these figures listed any more. Is there a problem with them?
Good News... Bad News
Email from my sales rep...
I checked and so far we have only received one part of our initial order for Kirk and Klingon retro figures. It looks like your order has filled and invoiced though, so you may be one of the first to get these. I’ll keep an eye out for tracking numbers once they are uploaded into the system.

My Diamond rep is an angry drunk* so new no news is forthcoming from him. I'll post when I know more!
Joe
*not really, but he does seem a little dim
Bad news is I won't be shipping any figures until next week.
Good news is...

Here you go Buk. Its just the front for now. My batteries ran out, and I need to unbury my charger from my MegoMeet Trip (its been that long since I used it), so more pix this weekend hopefully. Notice the front is nearly identical to Mego except the lack of Mego logo and other minor modern addons. The back is more realistic, with pix of the prototypes and Marty's mug.
I have a couple of comments about the packaging, but I think I may wait until these are in peoples hands to let the people speak. The look is great, and the concept is cool, but the execution leaves a bit to be desired.

If you go by the packaging, looks like McCoy and the Romulan may be next?
Actually the exact opposite. Spock and Andorian are next (and will be available to pre-order from me this weekend), then McCoy and the Romulan.

Its a little odd how the peg holes are arranged. That might cause some problems for some retailers. But I expect that's easier than re-orienting the hole location for figures with different weights & balances.

I walked into a comic book store in Burbank yesterday and picked up Kirk and Klingon.
They are VERY cool. This clamshell packaging is weird though...you've gotta
cut it w a pair of heavy scisssors and i dont think i could cut it straight enough around the edges w/o making them look ratty,so I'm just gonna leave them in their packaging.
Admittedly,at first I was not really
interested in these because i have all the real ones, but seeing them in person
I HAD to get them. They are a wee bit different then the originals(most noticably Kirks face paint and emblem...Klingon looks pretty freakin' spot on!)but cool different...almost looks like a "variation" if you will.
One other minor pet peeve w them is that none
stood straight on the card, not a huge deal if you're planning on taking them out and playing..but as I said above,I want to leave mine carded and my Kirk looks like he's doing an Irish jig.Not complaining tho',just giving my honest thoughts on them although I realize that's pretty nit picky.Overall, the figures themselves are very cool...now i'm as excited as the rest of you guys to get the others pictured on the back!!Andorian and Romulan look awesome i wd think those were real
If I didn't know better. The back is nothing like the Mego card but does feature an awesome x-mas catalog style diorama of all six locked in a phaser battle on a rock and some gravel. There's also a pic of Marty Abrams at the bottom with a blurb about Mego. All in all,I was on the fence...but seeing them in person I instantly caved in.
Thanx!!Nice work,guys.

Thanks for the review. The packaging is one of the points I wanted someone else to make. That is a good warning though. Getting these out in a way that will best preserve the packaging isn't going to be easy. It was too much for my regular scissors. I am now thinking that box cutters with a sharp new blade or something equally industrial will be the best bet.
http://megomuseum.com/mmgallery/files/9/PackageCutS1_original.gif
You have to cut it along three sides (opposed to just across the top like I thought when I saw them at MegoMeet). I also tried prying them apart without cutting, and the packaging is too fragile to accomplish this either.
Again, great concept, just not so great execution.
You are relentless! I didn't take any pix of the back yet. I will try to snap a few while I'm packing them this weekend. Weren't you at Mego Meet this year? Doc had them at his table.

I just got my Diamond invoice and it shows that the two cases I ordered are shipping next week which means I'll have them on Thursday. After seeing the pics posted here I still think they made a mistake with the clamshell packaging but the figures and card art look great!
Hulk,
Please...could you post a separate thread when you're ready to take preorders on the next two-packs??? I'd appreciate it!
I'll be waitin' by my mailbox for these little guys!

Are all the Kirk belts worn old man style up around the chest??? :smiley1:

^ Funny thing...I've never put my Trek weapons belts outside of the figures' shirts. I guess I was always afraid of black color bleed onto the shirts. *shrug*

Update: All my packages are going out today. Keep an eye out for UPS deliveries Tuesday (tomorrow) or Wednesday (for domestic orders), and USPS packages hopefully by next week for my international customers (I'll let the int'l people know how much shipping was individually if you owe me for that).

Glad they are arriving so quickly, and for letting me know. I feel bad for Joe, since his delivery was truly held up due to circumstances beyond his control. I highly doubt I will enjoy the advantage of such an early delivery next time. There are a lot of vendors still waiting for their orders.

Thanks Hulk. I got mine today and they look great. You know, I wasn't a big fan of the plastic packaging at first, but it was pouring by my house today and the box got drenched. I actually had to pour the water out of the box. Good thing these weren't original Mego's or I'd be in a bad mood, lol. Needless to say, I am now a fan of the plastic packaging and for those of you that might have been wondering if they were water-proof, they are. Thanks again.

Here's a question for everyone. I probably spent a bit under a buck extra on shipping to send them UPS Next Day (10:30AM) opposed to Next Day Supersaver (4PM). I know some places take longer because they are rural or just plain clear across the country, and if I don't then some people will take an extra day to get them. I don't mind too much, because I like everyone to get them the same day. However, the rain issue mentioned above, and the fact most of them get left on doorsteps makes me wonder if it would be better to choose the PM delivery instead. Obviously I could easily justify choosing the slightly lower cost since I'm eating the shipping cost anyway, but what do you all think would be the best practice in the future?

My Order arrived almost immediately after i paid you.Thank you for the super fast shipping and i am very happy with these figures
Thanks Vin. You got your order in literally when I was almost done packing my pre-orders, so it wasn't terribly hard to add one more shipment to the list. I'm making another small run of packing this weekend for some late orders, and I am down to just a couple of sets from my entire pre-order, which I expected to be sitting on a couple three cases in the end.

Hulk,
As long as they keep coming in that plastic packaging, I don't care when you ship it. It's summer in Miami, so that means it rains on an almost daily basis for the next few months.
