Attention Kaiju Fans! The Spinal Tap of Japanese Monster Movies.

BIG MAN JAPAN - In Theatres May 15th 2009

I caught this two years ago at a Midnight Madness screening during the Toronto International Film Festival. Starts off slow, but it got increasingly funnier.

Just wait until you see what dinner at the Ultraman Family household is like!

I don't think this description does any justice to the film...
"The film, a kind of mockumentary, chronicles the adventures of an aging slacker who grows to gigantic size to fight monsters as Japan's most hated superhero."

Yeah sort of a Hancock, Ultraman, Godzilla thing going. Hope in comes out somewhere here. Wish they showed some of his advisary monsters.

I've seen parts of this on YouTube, but can't wait to view the whole thing. Would be cool to see in an old theatre on a double bill, maybe have some "Kaiju Big Battle" inbetween movies.

Some of them are pretty ridiculous and lowbrow.

The Japanese title is Dai-Nipponjin if you want to look it up.
