The thrill of the chase is part of the fun of collecting Megos, I'm thinking maybe he collected them all and it stop being fun.

I noticed the figure shown in the Museum Gallery, and all the picture I have in my file, have different belts, with the GAH emblem for a buckle.

Does anyone know the story behind this metallic looking buckle?

I think Rudy had a child about 1 year or so ago. That may be one of the reasons why he is getting out...also, the economy isn't just bad here...it's bad all over. The only thing in the auction that bugs me is that he states a onw if a kind...and Ralph Protos are NOT one of a kind...there's about 10 or more of them out there. I think the only thing that makes Rudy's different is the fact he has the card proof to go with the figure...that's basically it. I hope Rudy does well with it. He was one of the more even keeled collectors in the Mego Community...Nice guy too.

This figure would make a great museum trading card. Good luck to anyone here going after it.

I've only seen that metal belt buckle in that ad. Maybe a first run or something.

There are definitely more than a couple of Ralphs out there and a few variations. IMark has two that had distinct differences in the outfit and the head paint. It may be the difference between hand made and factory made, I know of a Logan's Run figure that has a far more detailed outfit than my own.

This one is a sales sample from a former rep for Mego. I was bidder #2 back then, I kinda got "the fever" during that auction, so I was actually relieved when Rudy won.

Is this the one from the "Bill" lot a while back?

where as i had zero interest in that african boxed figure (already forgot what it was called), I have fond memories of watching GAH on TV and this is a piece that piques my interest...

....not only that,..the title on the card is way different from the other 10 floating around,..and whats so weird about it,..is the neck joint,..have you noticed that the head mold doesnt have a neck/plug????.... but the body does have one...weird.....

The lack of the belt buckle and the very different logo on the card suggests to me that this was one of the first protoypes made, and possibly the first card back as well.

Dammit, now I want it.

I must admit like Isis, I have never seen this TV show. Was it a comedy?

From what I remember, it was more like a superhero adventure/drama, with comedic elements.

So while doing a little bit of research on Ralph and watching his goofy trailer on youtube, I stumbled on this. I don't know if he still has it, perhaps he is a member here? He says he won't take $20K for it.

I think it's bad form to speculate why someone might be selling his collection.

Rudy was perhaps the biggest binge Mego collector in history. If he wanted something, he went after it. Not that there's anything wrong with that. I have gone in streaks myself.

Just throwing out the possiblities of of why he may be getting out. No harm in that. Things happen in life that change peoples perspectives and priorities. Family comes first...Especially in the Italian culture. Without family, there is nothing else. Being 1st generation born here in the US, from Italian parents, I can understand that way of thinking.

Very true. Family always comes first.

Family comes 11th or 12th for me. You'd understand if you met some of them.

So nobody here has any dialogue with Rudy? Can't someone just ask him why he's selling off?

Current high bidder on this also won the AE set..

ok just wanted to check and I know better to answer it ,etc
just wanted to inform the seller in case
thanks

but come to think of it how would a scammer know who bid on it when ebay's new policy does not show the bidders only to the seller
anyway just wanted to inform the boards and I am not trying to say the item is bad but I know my end is secure so(passwords etc)

Any transaction outside of ebay is most likely a scam. Report them to ebay. Probably wont do any good but report them anyway.

palitoy
May 23, '09, 8:53 AM
Like the guys have said, this has nothing to do with the seller. He's an excellent person to deal with.

goldenryan
May 23, '09, 11:16 AM
you gotta hand it to rudy for letting it "sell for what it sells for' some people on ebay would do a buy it now for $18,000 and not give a s#!t if it didn't sell . the bottom line is it's worth what somebody is willing to pay for it.

batgirl7777
May 23, '09, 1:52 PM
no I wasn't trying to knock the seller
just letting people know about the e-mail I received regarding the auction and just to have him know about it so he can be notified
thanks

if the email you received had your real name on that email then it is legitimate. if not it's a spoof!
