I'd love to get me some Kid Acero figures. Especially Nocton, and the invisible and bionic figures. Much cooler than a lot of the US Big Jims.

yeah, the Kid Acero face has a sleepy look that I like.

I gotta research Mexican Big Jim figures more. It has MATTEL MEXICO imprinted on the back. Is that Plastimarx?

Is Kid Acero in Big Jim scale ?

He looks more like a 12" figure compared to Spider-Man ?

If it's Mexican, it should be made by CIPSA. I've never seen a KFG Kid Acero before, I always thought they were European.

Some of the Jim figures have been altered to give him an angrier face, I got outbid on one of those recently.

Here is my collection of CIPSA Jims:
Big Jim Dolls from Mexico: Kid Acero : Plaid Stallions (http://www.plaidstallions.com/bigjimmexico.html)

I need to take better pictures of these...

That Hombre Invisible seems too good to fit in with the other figures in that line.

Really a nice figure

I find the Mexican Jims way cooler than even the P.A.C.K so much science fiction got thrown in there. There are even some boxes that alter the Kirby art and show the Mexican versions.

The Mexican Jim's seem to almost have a city gang-war feel.

Oh man, I'd love to see those boxes, Brian. Have any photos?

They are definitely tougher than the USA released.
Spain and Germany released some too, I recall. Right?
Head sculpts different there, too?
I gotta go to that Big Jim site. What was it again?

Yeah, it's the sci-fi stuff that makes them more interesting to me too; cooler than P.A.C.K. and a million times cooler than the early sports oriented Big Jim stuff. Same reason why I like the Super Joes better than the military and AT Joe stuff, which are just boring to me.

I need to take better pictures of these...

By all means, please do. :)

Oh yeah, the Cipsas are way tougher.

Like Mexico, Europe got some whole different Big Jim figures too, a lot of Secret Agent and science fiction related stuff. I wouldn't mind starting to collect them too someday, they're great.

Japan released some of the early sports oriented Big Jims, but I think that's it. I've never seen anything out of Japan that was more like the later Big Jims released in other countries.

Didn't Japan made the Spiderman/Big Jim figure? The KA figures are great Hombre Invisible is a favorite of mine.

I've never heard of a Spider-man Big Jim. Popy did make a Spider-man figure that was similar in size to Big Jim, but it wasn't a Big Jim figure. Perhaps you are thinking of that?

I've got a small collection of US Big Jim stuff but just how rare are these Kid Acero figures to come across?

They do pop up on ebay semi-regularly from Mexican sellers (there are some on there now). But rarely in excellent condition, and practically never in their original boxes (from what I've seen at least)

I was outbid on a boxed "hombre invisible" a month or so back, if my memory serves correct it was just a touch over $100 which I found reasonnable, don't know why I didn't go a bit higher. The boxed Nocton is one of my favorite toy packages ever. Same seller had a loose one that went for around $55. again, not unreasonable for a hard to find toy.

There are some here and there quite often in my searches. I see mostly repro boxes come around.

I contacted Jack Kirby collector about the original art, they say it has never surfaced, must still be at Mattel.

Nice going, you must have read my mind. I did immediately think about the whereabouts of the original art. The John Buscema book is real cool as well.

It was my understanding that Big Jim was licesed for Tarzan, James Bond, and Spiderman. In Japan they added a climbing device inside. The Japanese version was for Japan TV show where Spider Man had the giant robot. GuyX would is the go to guy for info on this one.

Yes, I know the figure you are talking about, the Popy one that's window boxed with a bunch of accessories, right? I've never seen an unclothed example of this figure, so I suppose it could be on a Big Jim body, but the body really doesn't look the same as that on the clothed ones I've seen. But now I'm curious to see a naked one so I can see exactly what kind of body construction he has.

Wow, I somehow missed those on PS before Brian. Those are sweet! I wonder if someone at Mattel remembered skull-face Zorak when MOTU was being developed?

I remember the Kirby-drawn ads for the first P.A.C.K. figures. That and the whole PACK line looked way ahead of it's time. It looks like an 80s line that was somehow created in the 70s. GI Joe:RAH and MASK would explore similar themes in the 80s.
