I am working on my son's first Batman. I decided to alleviate the frustration of losing pieces.

The recipe is:

CTVT black cape
Mego trek body
Chips hands
Mego molded cowl bats head
Bikin batman suit
Sewn on yellow fabric belt

Scalloping the cape will be next as will either a head with a black cowl or painting the current cowl.

Here's a pic:

To the next generation of Mego fantics!

Slap some black fabric paint on the head and he'll match and be in business.

Good ideas for sure. I wasn't sure what paint was appropriate. I have another custom in the works that would require a black cowl. As my son gets older, he will get Batman upgrades. :)

Thanks,

Bob

As far as kid friendly. I have noticed fabric paint does not come off if you put it on in layers. The stuff dries almost like painted rubber. You can use it on anything.

Good to know. I have several batman heads to work on. I'll give it a try. Thanks!

Super! Less pieces to lose is a good idea. I didn't give Zachary or Noe' belts w/ their Batmen, b/c I knew those would be the first things to go. I painted them w/ fabric paint. Surprisingly enough, they haven't lost the gloves!

That is a surprise, although my daughter makes sure her Batgirl always has her "mittens".

I live by the code of Fabric paint. Who ever invented that is a pure genius. It not only works on fabric, it works on plastic, rubber and vinyl. When it dries, the molecules in the fabric paint almost dry with a malleable dryness to it giving it a feeling of painted rubber. It is great stuff and my favorite customizing tool when in need of something that calls for a touch of coloring here and there.

Back in the day, I made a Famous Covers Ms. Marvel and painted the Psylocke suit black and it dried and it almost looks like Famous Covers made it look that way. Then I layered it on her head (a sanded down Scarlet Witch head) and her locks of blond molded hair came out perfect.

I've used a black Sharpie marker on that head for customs before. Works great. Not sure how it tastes though. How old is your son??

My son will be a year old this summer (yeah, I am planning ahead) and my daughter will be 4. She has 36 megos already. I think I will try the sharpie first, post a pic, and try the fabric paint on another head for comparison. Thanks!
