Paulie says it'll broaden the appeal of the Beatles and their music. That's a good thing.
Still, I wish Apple Corp would buy the rights from King Features's The Beatles Saturday Morning Cartoon and pay off McFarlane to use these guys...

And hire a group of animators to produce a new animated series.
Can you think of a beter way to expose a whole new generation to The Beatles?

Why is that? I believe that the Beatles game will be a stand alone game and won't work with Rock Band 1 or 2 (i.e. you won't be able to transfer the Beatles songs to RB 1 or 2, or visa versa. All the instruments should be compatible with everything else though). So if you like some songs on RB 2, why not get that and play it until the Beatles one comes out. :)
I have all of the Guitar Hero and RB games that have been released for the PS3 so far, and am really looking forward to the Beatles one too. I think there will be a deluxe set that will include instruments based on ones that the band played too.

I read yesterday that George Harrison's son slipped and said the Beatles edition will have some unreleased Beatles songs on it. Could be interesting.
I will get the stand alone for the wife, huge Beatles fan.

I figured I would wait for the Beatles edition instruments as well. No need to buy the current ones and have duplicates

I wish those Beatles instruments weren't so spendy. The box set comes with the game, Hoffner bass, drums and mike for $250.00. Rickenbacker and Gretsch guitars sold separately at $100 a pop (so we're talking $450 if a diehard fan wanted everything!). As cool as these instruments look from the pics I've seen, I think I'll just get the game by itself and use my trusty Guitar Hero Les Paul. :smiley1:

I wonder if this will appeal to a new generation of kids.
My kids don't seem to like Beatles songs and with a bunch of companies using their songs for commercials...they say something like "isn't that the song from the Target commercial?"
Oy!

wow, i did not realize it was going to be so expensive. I'll still get the box set though. Maybe pick up the extra guitars later on.

So I'm guessing Michael Jackson is going to be rolling in the dough on this as well? Doesn't he still own the Beatles Catalog?

Yep...as far as I know he does.
He is in some major debt and might have put the Beatles Catalog up as collateral for some of the loans he has outstanding. Apparently, that was one of few smart moves he has made in his life.

I'm interested in this Game...but the big question I have is...if your singing with Beatles(who do 4 part harmonies)...can you chose which Beatle your are...and harmonize with the rest of them. I want to sing Lennon's Part...he's my favorite!

We actually got this for the kids for Christmas this year. That list of songs looks fantastic.
Cant wait, 9 years from now all the Beatles music reverts back to Paul, Ringo and the Estates of John and George where it belongs.

I saw a video to "Sgt. Pepper/With a Little Help from My Friends" using this animation on VH1 Classic a few days ago. While it's not up to the level of a Pixar movie, it's very effective, especially for these songs in the Sgt. Pepper period. Good stuff.
I've never played Rock Band, but this looks like a lot of fun.

^ If you've never played Rock Band before I think this is actually an easier starter, especially for the younger set. You'd be suprised how many Beatles tunes your kids probably know even if they don't realize it themselves.....

Can someone explain why these games are so popular ?
I just don't get it ...
You have to buy expensive fake guitars that don't even teach you how to play the real thing.
It's basically an over-priced karaoke machine/game right ?

I used to think the same thing until I first played Guitar Hero III. After that I got seriously hooked and have bought every music game released for the PS3, and have downloaded many extra tracks for Rock Band (my favourite). There is just something so much fun about these, especially for someone like myself who is a huge music fan but can't play guitar. It's just a blast to pretend for awhile that I am a real guitar player (or drummer) and playing songs I really like. (for the record, I did take guitar lessons as a teen, but I have short fingers and just couldn't do a good job making chords, so I finally gave up in frustration :-( )

Considering this but don't have the cash now for the complete system!

Actually, I heard that this process was actually on the table again except they wanted to focus on a more mature Beatles group lineup with more modern animation. I think Paul and Ringo and George's wife had given the thumbs up to the animation but Yoko Ono had not returned her input or thoughts on the John Lennon portion of it. I don't know how reliable this source was or if it had any wee bit of truth to it but I could have sworn I seen some ideas.
It is supposed to be an animation with a more of a modern Yellow Submarine feel to it and was aimed at teenagers and above to get people interested in the Beatles music again. I have the link somewhere let me look. I am on all these dang Beatles boards. I should really cut them down to one. LOL :smiley1:
You know, another thought about this Beatles Rock Band thing. I am just not a fan of these games. I am not sure.
You push green, red, blue and white buttons or something in place of guitar chords and hit three or four colored pads in place of drums?
How about a computer animated game showing kids some music theory instead of this goofy around with a plastic guitar and colored buttons? Kids probably wouldn't want to play it then. They might actually learn something like, how to play a real instrument.
I don't know. To me, I have never been a fan of Guitar Hero and all these goofy pretend to be a rockstar games. I think if John Lennon were alive he'd think it was a load of crap and there would be no Beatles Rockband on the market right now. He had the common sense not to jump on a gimmick like Paul or Dingo (Ringo) LOL.

Funny you mention that... I'm having a devil of a time figuring out the drum patterns with the colorbuttonscrollbardealiebobber, whereas I could probably play them JUST FINE if they were actually written out on a staff!
Great hand-eye and tool and decent metronome... not so much on the music side of things.
