View Full Version : Terminator TV show Finale? *spoilers*

Has the Sarah Conner Chronicles been picked up for another season or are the producer's going for this as the series finale with the chance that the series has been cancelled?

It kind of wraps things up in a certain way that leaves the folks watching via DVD boxsets with a fairly satisfying conclusion that ties it into the original two movies as best that it can. Although having a 16 year old John Conner leading the resistance isn't exactly the most believable scenario.

I guess alternatively if the show does get picked up for a third season, they can have 16 year old John Conner return from the future with new insights and determination to stop the future.

Still leaves an open question about what the deal is with the "good" liquid metal Shirley Manson Terminator, and what purpose she had for "birthing" John Henry.

Ending did have an odd kind of Wizard of Oz vibe going on with Derek and Cameron/Allison waiting there in the future. Not to mention the Field of Dreams thing with Kyle Reese.

Any thoughts?

Older John Conner meeting young John Connor?

Very confusing.

The most intriguing part is the female liquid Terminator and John Henry...I dig that aspect of the story the most.

So if the character of Austin Green was killed in our time...why is he alive in the future?

That throws everything out the door then...that means John Connor can be killed in the present...yet still be alive in the future...that's if we are going to go with that kinda logic.

So is the hot young Terminator chick cyborg or human in the future?

Very confusing...but I still love that show.

I think the series has been given the green light...it's been getting solid ratings.

Time line change John left 2009 so there is no John untill he shows up in the future, thats why know one knows him.
His Father and uncle are both there because the havent gone back yet or have no need to because there is no leader John to save.

Soooo........ John should vanish because his actions stop him from being born.

I saw it and yes it was a bit confusing. It usually gets that way when you start dabbling with time travel and what happens if you change the timeline. Even though it had some discrepancies I thought it was Fantastic. I Love this Show alot. I really do hope that they bring it back. The story is great and the effects are Wicked Cool :beaming1:

The time line continuity in Terminator is probably the most loony out of all the science fiction flicks.

I didn't get that ,.. that was Younger John Conner Meeting Older John Conner,.. I thought it was John Conner Meeting Kyle Reese,.. his Father.

Agreed, ... that with the Added show,.. the continuty seems a bit off,.. because, well anything can happen & has when you are re-writing Time. Nothing from T3 Is ever mentioned,.. only 1 & 2. Because the show takes place before T3 ...

I think when Jonh jumped to the Future,.. The Cameron Chick is not even a Terminator,.. I think she is Human,.. like in that one Episode.

I also think that the Austin Green Character,.. can be protrayed in the Future,.. because thats where he was,.. before comming back in time.

When His character told John,.. he never heard of John Conner,.. & nore did anyone else in his group,.. I took that as , either A. For Some reason, John Conner doesn't exisist in this Possible Future,.. & or B. ... He is really not even created yet..., Because Kyle Reese has yet to travel back in time, to Bang Sarah & Create Him.

... Either way you look at it,.. it is a bit confusing,.. & Was a Fantastic Episode non the less,.. Hopefully the Show Will continue. I don't think it's on any sorta chopping block yet...

Cameron is indeed Allison (the real girl she is based on), you can tell because the dog doesn't react to her like a Terminator.

I think there is indeed a new timeline created that has John jumping forward to before Kyle or Reese jump back (and before they have even met John Conner). If the show is indeed cancelled, I guess the implication is that he is going to lead the resistance as a 16 year old and send his father Kyle back so that he can be conceived and send his uncle back to make sure that he gets sent forward in time. With the weight that he is sending both to their death in the future.

Anyone else feel like Hugo and Miles on that last episode of "Lost" right now?

The ratings weren't good for this season and another season is not yet officially confirmed. I think (besides wanting to see the show continue) that a new season would be a good idea because it can help promote the new movie.

Fridays the show Killer...it killed "The Flash", and the new "Dark Shadows".

Back to Terminator...I love it! I hope it comes back. The ending was a bit confusing at first, until until they showed Kyle Reese...then I realized John had a arrived in the time, before Kyle had gone back to save Sarah.

Terminator The Sarah Connor Chronicles CANCELLED 04-10-2009 - Not John Chow Just Better Looking (http://www.fmqinc.com/terminator-cancelled/)

Just trying to make sense of the last episode if it is indeed the series finale.

I just caught the episode of The Big Bang theory where the guys run into Summer Glau on a train. It's freakin' hilarious!

Fox is notorious for putting its sci-fi on fridays nights so that it can kill them.

As for the ending it was good. I too think they were trying to wrap it up in case it gets canceled but leave the opening in case it is renewed. What confused me is that I thought Terminator 3 was considered canon, just not a part of this show because the events had not happened yet. I too hope it is brought back but if not it also will fade from my memory banks just as Firefly and Dark Angel did.

The ancient and obsolete Nielsen ratings does not take into account the DVR recordings...that's where most of the viewers get to watch it...just like yours truly...it's the best way to watch a Network show...that way you get to skip all the obnoxious commercials.

Too bad if it's really being canceled...The Sarah Chronicles is the only show I watched faithfully out of the big four Networks (ok, I watch Celebrity Apprentice and Hell's Kitchen too, lol)...I mostly stick to cable stuff.

BTW...IMO...the actor who stole the show was Shirley Manson (the liquid Terminator)...I didn't know who she was before until this show...apparently she's the lead singer for Garbage...and this was her first acting gig. I like her...she has an interesting face/look...and I love her accent, lol.

From what I understand/believe, they are playing around with different universes/timelines/dimensions. The basis for my theory is that Jesse (the Asian Aussie Angelina Jolie wannabe) is not the Jesse from Derek Reese's future. When John and Sarah temporal leaped out of the bank, they may have changed the future in which they were destined as well. The whole show is based on the concept that they delayed Judgement Day at the end of Terminator 2. Very Trekish if you ask me, in that it allows them to screw with "canon" without necessarily tying the hands of future movies (such as Salvation). Either way it was a good show, and I am betting that the future of the show may rest in the success of the movie.

I'm a big Garbage fan from back in the day. Garbage Version 2.0 was mindblowing.
YouTube - Garbage - Push It (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z-CHEnJ7gnc)
She definitely has a real Rock Star presence.

It might be this video for The World is Not Enough that inspired her casting in Terminator...

I think DVD sales do start to impact in some ways. It's the reason why Family Guy returned, ditto Futurama.

You also have things like the Babylon 5 movies, Dead Like Me just returned with a new DVD movie (and I believe Farscape and Stargate have had direct DVD movies too right?).

The popularity of Firefly on DVD was what greenlit the Serenity feature.

There are probably other examples I'm blanking on right now.

The way I understand it.
The show almost got canceled after season 1.
It was too expensive and the ratings weren't high enough.
The studio cut the network a discount on the licensing costs to keep the show going for a season 2. They figured it would be a good way to keep interest up and give the new movie a better shot.
Ratings still weren't good in season 2 though, so FOX movied it to Friday where ratings expectations are not so high.
The reason most think it will be canceled is that most believe that after the release of the new movie, the studio will jack their price back up, and FOX will not go for it. As those fees, in conjuntion with the normal costs of the show, and paying the actors will be too high.
Which is also why there probably will be no chance of it moving to one of the cable networks.

Now, if the studio doesn't raise the price back up again.
And with the slimmed down cast thanks to so many being killed off this season. Then there still would be a chance of getting a season 3.
But that is highly doubtful according to most of the online pundits.

Great finale. I just caught it online (missed it when it was first on).
I didn't quite get the part at the end where a voice said something? "I love you" or something? Was that cameron?
I have heard it's one of the shows that could go either way in regards to being renewed (along with other shows I love like "Chuck", for example) but I hope they bring it back. It is one of my faves.
Still don't quite understand how Shirley is a "good" T-1000 as she has slaughtered a bunch of people to keep secrets. But then again, she could've just skewered John right there in her office and not said a word if she wanted to. Not like anyone could've stopped her.
Seems like she has an ulterior motive that she somehow still needs John alive to complete. I don't think she's "good".
I disagree that they "tied things up". I think they left a lot of unanswered questions (like a season finale does).

The I Love You was supposedly from Sarah Conner from the past outside the time bubble via that one last bit of residue "time electricity".

I don't think Terminators can ever be "good" or "evil". As we learned from Cameron, they are creatures of programming. If it isn't in her programming parameters, we've seen that she will not prevent bad things happening to humans.

I think the Shirey Mansonator is simply programmed to prevent Skynet as we know it from forming. That is consistent with her behaviour. She kills people just as Reese has killed for the "greater good", but it all comes from a different place. The people she's killed seemed to be involved with Skynet development somehow (outside of her purview).

I agree with you, there's the deal with Weaver, Cromarty/John Henry having Cameron's chip and what " will you join us " means. Join us and do what?

At one point i thought we were in for some Robo lovin' when Cameron undressed and told john to get on top, there's been a lot of tension between her and John this series. I would be tempted in his place, she's hot.
