Shipping to APO/FPO addy?

I believe the APO is Army/Air Force overseas and FPO is Navy/Marines overseas. I had an APO address when I was in Germany in the Air Force.

They are military or government addresses. I'm not sure why they would be more expensive. I have a customer who is stationed at the US Embassy in Japan, but the APO address is in San Fran, and I only pay Priority Mail rates for a package to San Fran. The US Government routes it from that point, and he usually gets things fairly quickly. Maybe it depends on how generous the government is to certain postings or stations.
