SENSES TINGLING - New York Post (http://www.nypost.com/seven/03272009/news/columnists/spidey_senses_tingling_161570.htm)

WHAT do you call a $40 million theatrical extravaganza that features gigantic, perspective-skewing sets, 3-D projections, more aerial acrobatics than Cirque du Soleil, a cast of heroes and villains from Marvel comic books and a rock score by Bono and The Edge?

The phrase "Broadway musical" doesn't seem grand enough to convey the size and scope of "Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark," which is due to open in New York at the Hilton Theater in January 2010.

And, in fact, its director, Julie Taymor, who staged "The Lion King," recently warned a group of theater insiders to steer clear of the word "musical."

Spider-Man, she added, "is not going to sing and dance in tights."

A better description of her show, she suggested, is a "circus rock-'n'-roll drama."

Sounds like a lot of money for something that could potentially be a big flop.

It does sound interesting though and I would definitely check it out if I lived in the area.

As long as I get a U2 performed version of the soundtrack, I'll be happy.

When I first heard of this, I wasn't really too excited. Again, Super-heroes and broadway musicals just never seems like a good idea. However, the more I hear about the production, the more intrigued I find my self becoming...

Hmmm... not a fan of the musical... but it's definitely the type of thing I could take my little girl to... but NOT MY SON (he would hate it).

Can't be worst than the Superman play was. with today's effects it could work but I suspect peter pan more than peter parker

There was a kind of Spider-Man musical at Universal Studios a few years back. I thought it was kinda funny. But I wouldn't pay money to see this, (y'know w/o the price of admission to an amusement park).
