1986 Remco AWA Mat Mania figures RARE - eBay (item 270356768968 end time Mar-21-09 07:06:42 PDT) (http://cgi.ebay.com/1986-Remco-AWA-Mat-Mania-figures-RARE_W0QQitemZ270356768968QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_De faultDomain_0?hash=item270356768968&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1205%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C 240%3A1318%7C301%3A1%7C293%3A1%7C294%3A50)

I'm not really surprised, I knew somebody who collected these back in the 90s and they're one of those things that really flew under the collector radar. He was telling me back then that certain MOC pieces were hard to find.

I used to have a few loose ones but sold them off a few years ago.

I picked up the Rockers (loose) for like 40 bucks

other rare figures are the early 80's new japan pro wrestlers i know they made andre, the butcher, dory funk and a few others the packaging kinda looks like the takara star wars.
most likey just as htf as some of the palitoy wgsh and other super rare mego items but not as nearly as pricey cause of the market.

These were kinda like the SW POTF figures if I remember. After the hype and popularity had worn off. They never sold and were just vamped up versions of the original figures Remco did. Best thing for a mass produced toy is for it to be unpopular. Those are the ones all the vintage collectors usually chase. Remember Nightmare before Christmas stuff. A year after it was 90% off on clearance the stuff was selling for $60 a carded figure or more. I've seen other 80's toys sell MOC for over $200 so these aren't super outta there but where will they sell at in the end?

I had them all :embarassed: sold them to my uncle in 92 for $25 :14:

Those listed are 5 of the rarest ones and usually command about $500 a piece,so $1000 for the 5 is a sweet deal

I used to have 2 Curt Hennig's

One with pants (painted on) and one with shorts (painted on)

Was there 2 Curt's ?

Or did somebody do a head-swap ?

I am wondering why anyone would want these. to me they are very unappealing.

Sometimes that's what makes them so appealing.

As for who would want these and about them being unappealing ....

The same can be said for Mego's Comic Action Hero's

I personally think CAH's are about the ugliest things i've ever seen and wouldn't want them if you paid me to take them.

That doesn't mean nobody else wants and collect them :)

A couple of reasons I think they're appealing to collectors .....

1. They were distributed heavily in the Mid-West and South because that was mostly AWA/NWA etc territoy.
They were released in the North, but very modestly -- and they were mostly peg-warmers due to the North being WWF territory.
Most Northern people considered them to be generic knock-off figures.

2. Because Remco made them, they were on a fine line between being a true legit action figure and a rack-toy action figure found at discount places.

This made them unique and is why they're so collectible today.

This is an incredible deal, i have never even seen a sheik figure before. This would be like getting a large s superman, circle suit spidey, and removable mask robin in the same auction for 500 bucks.

$1,225 is nothing to sneeze at. but for the record i think their ugly:silly: still wouldn't mind owning hbk, that figure has gotta be atlease five years before he got real popular.
