    Filmation Aquaman DVD officially announced

Find a list of new movie and TV releases on DVD and Blu-ray (updated weekly) as well as a calendar of upcoming releases on home video.

Looks like my theory about the Filmation shows coming out in their original formats (minus the legal Kryptonite Superboy) was wrong. Looks like it's just Aquaman. This worries me that we may never get the other JLA/Titans shorts from the Superman/Aquaman show.

But still, good to see Arthur gettin' some love!

    F.O.A.M.!!!

Just saw where they announced Super Powers Team: Galactic Guardians too!

Awesome news! I've enjoyed the 66 Supes this past week (77 Bats not so much) and kept thinking I wish they'd release Aquaman!

In addition to more 60s Superman, 60s Batman, 60s JLA/Titans, and more SF, I hope Warners takes a look at the under-appreciated and rarely seen 88 Ruby Spears Superman animated series. It was a real step up in quality from even the Super Powers shows, and was a good synthesis of the Reeve movies and Post-Crisis comics. With Marv Wolfman and Gil Kane running things, it came out really well.

I wish fans could have a scheduled chat online with WB affiliates like the people from the tvshowsondvd.com website do. That way, we could give our opinions and input so as to give the WB something to think about. And who knows? Maybe they will consider releasing the 1988 Superman someday. If they could release the mega rare 1977 Batman series before the 1968 ones, surely there's hope.

If anything, I would want to petition the DC SuperHero shows by Filmation for release. I know there are many who would like to see the individual episodes of the Flash, Green Lantern, Hawkman, the Atom, the Teen Titans, and the JLA released onto DVD. Too bad they were not included with Aquaman.

Regarding the Super Powers Team, the only bummer I've noticed is that the cover art for the DVD is not the design of the show, but the Alex Toth designed SuperFriends. Plus, instead of Firestorm and Cyborg, there is a headshot of the least active member from that season. The Flash. How ironic.

        Cheers.

Yeah, and where's the Super Powers logo? My kid bought a pair of pajamas at TRU emblazoned with the Super Powers logo, but the DVD bearing that name doesn't get it? I know they didn't use it on the show, but I think that logo alone would work toward some nostalgia sales.

I thought the same thing about Flash. Did him or Aquaman even speak that season?

            Earth 2 Chris,
The answer to your question is yes on both counts. The Flash only appeared in one episode, along with everybody else on the Death of Superman and he had some speaking lines. There is one scene where only the Flash, Hawkman, and Samaraui spoke while Robin and Aquaman remained silent. Quite a voice workout for Jack Angel. Unfortunately, the Flash never got to run or use his super speed. The Scarlet Speedster was most mistreated.

Aquaman had cameos in the Seeds of Doom, Case of the Stolen Powers, and the Death of Superman, but it wasn't until the final episode, Escape From Space City where Aquaman had both an active and speaking role and he was again voiced over by Bill Callaway from the SuperFriends.

            Hope this helps.

            Cheers

No dis to Aquaman but I'm definitely more pumped for this. Being able to add this and the Legendary SP to my DVD collection (an doff my want list) is great news.

TV Shows on DVD just added large artwork. Pretty sweet!

i know they really dont do stuff like this (unless your the Simpsons crew, who are REALLY into it), but i wouldve loved to have, say, "Aquaman" and "Black Manta" do a commentary track for an epsiode.

I think I'm more excited about this release than I was about the Superman and Batman ones last month.

This was such a very important show to me at such a young age

They're putting this beauty collection out officially?

                              Well, bravo
