Here are a few more facts I teach my students in history 7th/8th grade. See if you know them.

1. What is the famous quote Davy Crocket is said to have said when he left congess to move to Texas?

2. What was the "Zimmerman papers"?

3. What English colony is considered the lost colony?

4. What was the last battle of the Texas Revolution?

5. What former Vice President ran against Lincoln in 1860 and later became a Confederate general?

6. Besides loyalist, what were people loyal to England called during the revolution?

7. What Texas was the most highly decorated Army soldier during world war two?

8. What treaty ended the American Revolution?

See, I actually do teach my students something. Everyone complains about the state of education today but I know where I am it's damn good. I'll post the answers later tonight. So, are as smart as an 8th grader??

Telegraph from Berlin to Mexico making the deal if Mexico would go to War with the US they would be given Texas, Arizona and New Mexico back.

3. What English colony is considered the lost colony?

Roanoak Colony

4. What was the last battle of the Texas Revolution?

San Jacinto


5. What former Vice President ran against Lincoln in 1860 and later became a Confederate general?
Breckenridge

6. Besides loyalist, what were people loyal to England called during the revolution?
Torries

7. What Texas was the most highly decorated Army soldier during world war two?
Audie Murphy -- Hunt County's Favorite Son

Treaty of Paris

I only googled -- Breckenridge, Roanoak, and Treaty of Paris...
My Greatgrandmother was mid-wife when Audie Murphy was born --
The rest is 8th grade Texas History:biggrin:

Wow, that's cool! I really admire Audie Murphy.

I took an interest in his life story when I was younger. I didn't know who he was , but older people were always telling me I looked like him. After awhile I had to find out just who the heck this "Audie Murphy" fellow was.

5 of 8 which is pretty sad for a high school history teacher. Apparently, I need to study my Texas history.

Steeler, 5 out of 8 isn't bad unless you're a Texan. A lot of the questions deal with Texas directly.
