Ever since i've been a member here, i've been trying to find a suitable Connery head to use as a base for a Ramirez custom but haven't really been happy with any of them. Then, about a year ago i got hold of Sideshow's 12" Modern Duncan McCleod figure to shrink down and noticed that he looked quite alot like Connery ( especially when he's sporting similar facial hair in Endgame ).
I've finally got round to working on a casting of the Sideshow head and would like your opinions on the result before i go down the route of moulding and shrinking it to 8".

Ian, actually the side-view your sculpt looks like him. Front view does not though, but you could pull a few tricks up your sleeve with a good paint job and make Sean Connery come out. I think it's the shape of the eyebrows that needs tweaking.

You also might want to deepen the eye lid.
Sean Connery has rather deep set eyes, with heavy lids.
The eyebrows do need tweaking; maybe some random bits of grey.
Other than that, it has potential.

Yeah...I think it's the Eyes that are throwing Me off as well. He looks great from his Profile...but from the front He just looks surprised. His eyes are too Buggy.

Thanks for the advice guys.
The paint job is only temporary, to show the features better. Sometimes with unpainted heads it's hard to see the details properly.
I know what you mean about the eyes, in the film i think he's wearing dark make up. Once the finished head is painted up the same that might make his eyes look less buggy.

Sometimes it's just hard to see how it will look in the end, particularly if you've got two or three colors on one sculpt. I can see the details better if it's a uniform color. Good luck. Can't wait to see him done.

well if you do more then one cast of that head I would be interested in one!
I agree with the rest: from the side it does look like Connery, but not so from the front

from the sides your head looks great, I think the paint job on the eyes in the front view is throwing it off. He should be a bit more squinty and not so surprised looking.
