View Full Version : So what's with YOUR MM name?
MegoNinja
Jul 6, '07, 8:13 AM
Hello everyone,
I thought this would be an interesting thread as I have never seen anyone else post about this sort of stuff. I was curious to know why everyone has chosen their MM names, my curiosity spawns from the fact that some people have the craziest names and I have no idea how they could have come up with them. (much like eBay user names that are crazy and you'll never know the history behind them).
I'll get it started by saying my MM name is MegoNinja simply because I collect Mego and I practise Ninjitsu, put the two together and wow. MegoNinja.
Anyone got any stories behind their MM name?

When I joined up I looked at the first thing sitting on my computer shelf -- type-1 kirk for inspiration :)

Mine's simple. It's the name my parents gave me.
mego boy CA
Jul 6, '07, 8:46 AM
i chose mego boy CA because i always had people telling me that i act like a little boy with toys, and i live in California, and i'm into captain action and megos, so long story short i combined and came up with mego boy CA.
so the CA can be both for Cali. and Capt. Actn. :cool3:

I practise Ninjitsu,
I find this fascinating. Have you ever infiltrated any enemy headquarters under the cover of darkness? (perhaps entering underwater via a canal using a bamboo stick as a snorkel)..... Do you have the boots with the split toe?

yes I do have the boots with the split toes, they are called Tabi. As of yet, I havent had to go into enemy headquarters, where am I going to go? Iraq? I understand your curiosity though, as Ninja's are normally just video game and B-grade movie characters, there are plenty of Ninja's around still though, just like people that do Karate, Kung-fu etc etc.
Earth 2 Chris
Jul 6, '07, 11:38 AM
Years ago, when if first got online, I picked the name Earth 2 Robin for myself. I always liked the character and costume of the older Earth Two Dick Grayson. When I signed up here, I initially signed up as Earth 2 Robin, but for some reason I don't remember, my account was screwed up, so before I ever even posted, I re-signed up as Earth 2 Chris (Chris being my real name). So that's why my avatar is Earth 2 Robin.

Wish I had put more thought into mine. I was signing up here and used the name of my cat at the time 'critter'. The 2 came after I had moved and was offline for a couple months and could'nt remember my password, so I rejoined. I wish I had picked something cool like CIPSA JIM or MONKEY MAN!
filmation batman fan
Jul 6, '07, 12:02 PM
The handle name I chose is quite obvious. I believe first impressions make the most impact. I am a fan of Batman and Robin first and foremost. But unlike other Batfans whose first exposures to the character were either the comics or the TV show from 1966. My first exposure was the 1977 Filmation cartoon, The New Adventures of Batman, which I am proud to say is now available on DVD. I also like the original 1968 cartoons by Filmation, but I love the 1977 series better for sentimental reasons.
To make it simple, the New Adventures of Batman by Filmation was that first spot on the map that has made me the Super Hero/Comic Book/ Mego collecting and SuperFriends/Justice League junkie that I am today.
While I do love the Dark Knight version of Batman, I have a soft spot for the Adam West versions both live and animated. And since I feel that the Filmation version gets very little acknowledgement, that is how I chose the name Filmation Batman Fan.
Cheers.

Seeing how it's Texas and all I expected you to be teaching 8th grade history at a high school. :smiley1:
It worked really well with my avatar
JDeRouen
Jul 6, '07, 2:34 PM
Well, my first initial is "J" and my last name is "DeRouen," and when you put them together...
I've been online, first on CompuServe and then on BBSes, since the early 80's. I've had many handles - Druid, Shadow Mage, Mage, among others - but my e-mail has always been jderouen@whatever, so I just started using that on boards as well.

As I said before,I'm not very original.
ABMAC was my horse's name when I rode for the Central Overland California and Pikes Peak Express Company back in the 1860s.
While in college I waited tables, (about the time of the movie Top Gun) we Iceman, Goose, T-bone, Bone-Daddy and I was G-man... If you sat in my station you were in the "G-Spot". It just seemed to be the first thing that popped up when I registered here.

Jul 6, '07, 5:17 PM
Here is the re-telling of my alter ego, just for you.Fallen saviour is what I go by.A long time ago in a galaxy far away.....Wait a minute wrong story.
Many years ago I was an ambulance attendant=(savior).
Bad things happened in my life(divorce). At the time I just gave up on people in general, and felt that they (humanity)were not deserving of my skills and efforts(as I say this was a long time ago).So I walked away from the one thing I truly loved saving lives.Started drinking and being angry with the world=(fallen)(**I have not been like this for well over 11 years**)
When I went to log the name fallen savior on some other sites it was taken.Being Canadian I figured I would add the (U) making saviour much like the american versus canadian color/colour.Blammo fallensaviour was created just stuck with it ever since.
And there you have it...

the greatest state in our Union, Texas .
Yes, John! The land of my birth (Dallas, Parkland Hospital--born there the same day JFK died there, they made my mom wait outside the ER for security reasons).
I'm garagesale--based on a short play I wrote about Megos once. It was the thing that brought me into collecting them.

Hornet of Doom
Jul 6, '07, 6:08 PM
My original name was Parasite Hornet, which sounded like a good super villain to me (The Parasite was for the ability to leech life, and Hornet is 1) my spirit animal, and 2) my high school mascot...) After I got called a parasite by someone close to me, I dropped the parasite and went with Hornet of Doom, since adding "Of Doom" was funny for a few weeks a few years ago. About a month ago, I decided to go by Hornet Mk2, since I went through a serious change and decided to reinvent myself. I still go by Hornet of Doom on here though. Naturally.
My last name is Meuleman, but everyone calls me Meule

Since I'm the one who started that other post about screen name origins, I'll just repeat my answer.
I am a MAJOR Shaun Cassidy fan. :pinklove: I have a website (see profile), and I've had the great fortune to see and speak to Shaun in person, 4 times. He's a real sweetheart.:prv: So since he is the ultimate Hardy Boy, it's only fitting that I dub myself The HardyGirl.

TXP 0369 was my old Boba Fett costume call sign on the Phoneix Squadron board. All bounty hunters had the the first designation of TXP...
My eBay name is Sarlacc*food..... because Boba Fett, my favorite SW charector, became Sarlacc Food when Han Solo launched him into the Sarlacc Pit during the battle of Carkoon in ROTJ.

Mine is taken by a the newest Marvel superhero, The Sentry, I went to Megomeet this year got the stuff I needed to make a custom Sentry! So I thought this would be a cool tribute!
But honestly, "Hulk" was taken, Hulk's my favorite hero and Mego action figure! :yeah::grin:
Dave Mc
Jul 6, '07, 11:23 PM
My name is Dave, my last name is McCormick. I always seem to work with another Dave in the office, so when I have to initial things I got in the habit of using Dave Mc or DMc, so I used it here as well.
But honestly, "Hulk" was taken, Hulk's my favorite hero and Mego action figure! :yeah::grin:
Aw, shucks, now I'm just embarrassed.
Johnny
Jul 6, '07, 11:43 PM
Mine is a very simple and fairly unexciting story as to how I came up with my Mego Museum name. My first name is Johnny I was going to just tack Mego on the end of it. Much to my chagrine JohnnyMego was taken by a a gentleman who I am pretty sure has not posted here in many years. My last name starts with a C so I threw that in there and there ya go.
Great origin story huh?

Jul 7, '07, 3:01 AM
I took the single Mego figure that I wanted the most as a kid that I couldn't get and combined it with my birthday. If I had really thought about it, I would have just gone with my name, Sean.
When I signed up to the 'bay a few years back I was struggling to find a username. I happened to have an old newspaper article about my great-grandfather on my desk, he was an Australian & Commonwealth boxing champion and Australian Rules footballer back in the 1890-1900's.
The article was discussing his time playing with his beloved South Melbourne Football club, and it was using the slang from the period with lines such as "'e 'urt 'em with 'is 'in-close' work at Sowth".
So there you go!
Cheers,
Will

batman is my favorite character and my intials are mc . combine the two. mike
Mine is easy. I make custom figures and I designed my own 8" custom body to use for this. I is more muscular and more poseable than the original mego type1 and type 2 bodies. So I named myself the next thing up on the list, Type3Toys.
If you think about it, you really owe your user name to ABMAC.

My nick is simply my last name and my age at the time I joined the previous Museum boards. I actually started out as ramsey35 on the old RTM Mego boards and the Levy list, way back in 1998-1999.
