What a GREAT feel good story

    This is just too awesome...

YouTube - autistic basketball player (Jason McElwain)

I hear they are planning a movie based on this amazing young man.

I remember that. It certainly is a cool story. We need more of those, these days. However, I can't help wondering why he never played before, and what might have happened if he had? He can obviously nail 'em.

        Great story.
Unfortunately, autism comes in a very wide scale, going from well-adapted and highly intelligent (my brother-in-law being one), to many others who have a lot of "disabilities" added to their autism. I worked for an organisation that provides guidance to autistic people and their families, and some were very severe. There aren't that many "Rain Man" cases out there. don't misunderstand me, I'm not saying there isn't love/affection/bonding/talent/..., 'cause there IS, but I've seen a lot of severe cases. People I know often think that all of them are "autistic savants" (terrible word, really), but it's a hard life, especially on parents. Trust me, those people have to be made of "the right stuff".

But true, sometimes is great to see one of them really get to do "his thing".
In a perfect world, this should be the rule, not the exception.

        Jeez, I'm ranting again....

Hardly a rant, Dude. I appreciate you sharing from experience.

I like how the kid made the most of the opportunity he was given. Very Rudy-like and who the heck doesn't like an underdog getting their moment and shining?
