I can't believe that security guard flick with that annoying dude is number one for a second week.

People like to Laugh at Stupid stuff in these Hard Times.... The King of Queens imo was a Fantastic Half Hour Comedy Show..., Maybe thats the Buzz ?

Well, as long as it does well, that is the most important thing. A half way decent gross will ensure more monster flicks.

I'm honestly glad to see a PG-rated comedy do well. Comedies nowadays seem to be either a series of F-bombs or a vehcile for Disney's latest teen queen. There seems to be little in-between these days.

Doesn't shock me, I haven't seen one bit of promotion for it in print or on tv.

It performed almost as well as the first 2 did without the main star of the first ones. That's actually pretty impressive.

It's been the total opposite for me. Not an hour goes by when I am watching TV that they don't show the commercial at least once, usually more for it.

I figured it would have beat that flick out, as well, but it's really hard to hate Kevin James. He is just so every-dude.:cool_y:

Same here,it's still showing a lot,now with the guy saying critics say it's better then the first 2

It is just as good though  That I gotta admit.

Kevin James was pretty funny on King Of Queens . I can see with things being so rough for a lot of people , Comedies are doing well . I would have chosen Underworld to see if I had a choice. I am excited about this third Installment. I ask around though and alot of people have mixed feelings about it. There were some not really thrilled with Evolution. I like both previous films and I doubt I will dislike this one. Comedies will tend to do slightly better than sequels of films , unless the Sequel is a Huge Monster Of A Franchise.

Well.... there's a fair amount you gotta wrap your head around with a monster flick like this: that there are vampires and werwolves, and they fight.... "Fat guy fall down" is pretty easy to follow.

I see what people don't see in it. It is an undermarketed (not sure what channel wyldpny is watching) part 3 of a trilogy that was already losing steama nd is without it's big star.
I only vaguely remember this film was coming out. Then I didn't recognize it as part of Underworld until a friend reminded me.

It may be good but it is not surprising it is not a box office hit.
Solely because of the review thread on this board I will probably rent it on DVD.

I've seen this in commercials a lot here,so I know it's not that it was under marketed.I guess it depends where you live

Exactly. While I like the Underworld movies I'll wait until the DVD comes out.

I think that Hollywood needs to stop trying to reinvent the wheel. Now let me explain.
I love monsters, more the supeheros. They have always and will always be my favorite.
Trouble with these flicks is they over do them. There are more werewolves and vampires in this flick than real people. Just makes something unreal even less real to me. I also dont get that as soon as you turn into a vampire you know kung fu. There was a time in real life when real people beleived vampires and werewolves were real creatures. Film a movie with this folklore in mind AND included in the film, I think it will be more popular.

>I think that Hollywood needs to stop trying to reinvent the wheel.

I prefer the "kids playing soccer" analogy. Once someone does something that sells, EVERYBODY jumps on the bandwagon.

>There are more werewolves and vampires in this flick than real people.

It's the result of Anne Rice's books selling a gazillion copies. Vampires aren't evil hellspawned demon beasts any more; they have their own society, and have existed in the shadows for as long as humanity. (A friend of mine considers them emo superheroes: you get powers by being victimized, and can then go around bemoaning your tortured existance while being more hip and powerful than those around you.)

>I also dont get that as soon as you turn into a vampire you know kung fu.

HAW! The "Underworld" films... er.... BORROW heavily from the Vampire RPG, which states that a lot of the weird abilities are transferred through the blood. So if you get turned into a vampire by one of the super-ninja clans you develop the super ninja powers. The vampires in Underworld would have "Celerity" and "Fortitude" as two of their powers.

Third part of a fading franchise, without the previous films' main star, with a cast of unknowns, not heavily advertised, and an unwieldly title. It's box office results don't really surprise me at all. It looks like only the established, diehard Underworld fans are going to see this one.
