View Full Version : Is it wrong for a seller to rip off your auction?

I was just wondering what Ebays policy is on ripping off another auction. A couple of weeks ago I listed an item and now another seller is listing another figure and they have cut and pasted my description into their auction, same wording, same font - everything. Another item they have is exactly the same as something else another seller listed, description, font etc.
I don`t know whether I should be annoyed or not - it`s just plain bone idle on their part.

Know that you cant steel pictures from another auction but same description will probably fall under the same catagory.

Yeah they won't do crap,if you take the pics yeah. But not the description,I know it sucks and it's really annoying, but there's not much you could do

I know it's annoying. I had a MM Member steal mine word for word. Then he started using my old Avatar.

I had another seller steal my descriptions for GI Joe's a couple of years back and ebay ended his auctions. But first I emailed him about it through ebay, and he responded by calling me a whiny (sp?) b#$ch and with some other threat to beat me up. So, I reported the auctions to ebay and the response that he sent me. So, ebay did right, for once, and fixed his *****. I thought it was pretty cool. :smiley1:

If it were for something mass produced, like a HotWheels Batmobile, the I would see no harm in copying the listing, but an individual figure, that is very poor form.

Its certainly weird this stuff even happens. You'd think they'd take a second
and make it their own a bit---even IF they stole the text

I have stolen a few descriptions before to just use as a basic guide, but I would always change a few things to meet he item I was selling.

I've never done this with a Mego auction, but have with others. For instance last year a freind of mince gave me a few boxes of HotWheels to sell for him. I really do not know anything about Hot Wheels, so i copied and pasted descriptions from other people's auctions, but used my own pics. Maybe the other Ebayer was not familiar with Megos and decided to copy your description for accuracy??
