View Full Version : Green Lantern Radio Show

I just heard that there was once a Green Lantern show, similar to the ones starring Batman, Superman and Robin. It was about Alan Scott. I've been googling for the past hour or so and I can only find articles that mention it's existence. Is there anywhere I can hear even part of this program? I've already found out that it hasn't been made available anywhere, because some, if not all, of the original recordings were destroyed or taped over. Am I on an impossible quest? Is this program gone forever? If anyone has any other ideas, please let me know. I'd love to find any additional information I can...

the story you're talking about is from this record:
...even tho the sleeve shows Hal Jordan, the audio is an origin of the Alan Scott GL. it was done i believe exclusively for this record.
theres a site called Way Out Junk that has lots of old LPs as digital files, they may have it for download.
ive played the record a few times, its not too bad!

Cool link, I'd love to get that album, but this was definitely an on-air radio show. My husband was able to find a hear an audio of the introduction, but that's all he could find, and that was ages ago. We weren't able to find it when I was looking the other night.

Try this link;
As for a radio show, I've never heard of a GL OTR. Could it have been a college radio production? Something similar to the FF radio show?
BTW, the Flash story features both Barry Allen & Jay Garrick.

I've never heard of a GL radio show, and I think it would have come up in Roy Thomas' exhaustive All-Star companion volumes. I think that record may be the culprit here, but like the others I'm pretty sure there was no Alan Scott GL radio series. There was at least one pilot for a Batman radio show done, but aside from Superman and Hop Harrigan (!) that was it for actual DC characters on radio.
Since Alan is a favorite of mine, I wish there had been one!!!

Thanks for the link Aquatroy. The recording sounds very much like a radio show. I played it for Nate, and at first, he kept saying that he didn't think it was the same thing he heard. But then he said, "It might be, it was a long time ago and very poor quality." I'm kind of torn now. On one hand, it's nice to see that the mystery is probably solved. On the other, it means there was no radio show, or if there was, it's completely disappeared.

It is a bit sad. There are a number of super-hero properties that could have translated to radio very well. I'm surprised that there was never a Captain Marvel radio show. It seems like a natural to me. Billy Batson could break into your regularly scheduled program with a special report on the Adventures of Captain Marvel, and away we go.
BTW, forgive me if you already knew this, but there are a handful of Green Lama episodes floating around the net along with a good number of Blue Beetle OTR.
