I have to agree that when an added accessory like this is included (accidentally or not) as in a Tricorder in this case, that it should make the value of those Kirks included with it become more valuable than one without. Since apparently not all of the re-issued Kirks are packaged with one, it pretty much also makes it a chase variant actually ;)

I noticed that the Kirk I ordered over Christmas from FAO.com has what appears to be a longer shirt (that's also a little darker in shade) than the two I bought when they first came out.

I'd think a variant would be releasing him in a 'deluxe' EMCE green wrap tunic or something..

I missed the opportunity a few years back.. I love my belly shirt and Klingon suit w/sash, but the third buy was to be the Med shirt.

I'm interested to see the difference in the shade of Kirk's Shirt color, between the 1st & 2nd release.

The tricorder on Kirk IS a factory error - it was not intended to be a variant.
I prefer to think of it as a nice bonus to the fans who find variation exciting.

This is actually the third time we have ordered Kirk and the Klingon and
the second time for Spock/Andorian. I have been assured that Spock
has gold rank this time but I would know for sure until they arrive here.

2009 is looking very good for EMCE Toys - stay tuned.

I'm interested to see the difference in the shade of Kirk's Shirt color, between the 1st & 2nd release.

Search for the 2nd run Kirk threads, there are pics of the color differences there and also is a 2nd run Klingon thread that I made with the color difference there as well for the Klingon.
A little side thing I found interesting is that Checovs shirt is the same color as Kirks first shirt and not the second.

Sounds more like a production error , not variant. Is the Tricorder a different color at least ? Maybe He comes with a Removable tupe' maybe the didnt notice it and they thought the production error was the variant.

There's a guy selling the Kirk with Tricorder AND the Spock with the silver rank braids on ebay. I know it's just a factory error, but I got them anyway - think they look pretty cool displayed next to my reg figures. Just giving everyone a heads up!
