God save (us from) The Queen

In her unfailing efforts to help her loyal subjects, The Queen has used "a cheaper brand of Christmas crackers" at her festivities.
    Bless her!

Now all those homeless people, the unemployed, and people barely scraping by can rest assured that their future is in good hands.

Personally, I have a very good suggestion where she can stuff her crackers....

    Get rid of the royalty

    They don't do anything anyway.

First thing an efficiency expert would do is eliminate their job -- which is getting money for nothing

Well..the one thing they DO achieve is a sense of nostalgia and
a unique image for their country.

England would be quite different to me if they had no Royal Family.

Why have some of your tax dollars go to make the richest person in the world richer ?

          Forget about nostalgia

          I'm talking economics

Forgive me and my Yankee Doodle thinking, but nobody on earth is god, and nobody should be treated like it

            Okay.

Guess I don't take it that seriously.

I mean...others on this planet are put on pedestals too.

It's a slippery slope once you start "calling 'em out"
----especially one(s) that are so iconic to a country.

              I'm not calling them out.

If people want to have a queen that's fine with me ..

They have the right to waste their money on whatever they want

I'm just saying, it is a waste, imo

I guess I agree it's a "waste" in many respects...but, again, slippery slope

Who know how I'd feel if someone recruited me to recalibrate a country's
economics/taxes that had a Royal Family---after weighing everything
out---I may be persuaded and compelled to pursue diminishing the whole
                "royal" thing.

If this is "politics talk"---I apologize---I never actually thought I'd get any
                where near that...

Maybe someone can enlighten me but I didn't think the royal family received a whole lot of taxypayer dollars anymore. I thought most of their money is just passed down from one generation to the next.

Sure, they live tax free in Buckingham Palace along with some other estates and have body guards and employees which are paid by the government but so do ex-presidents of the U.S.

I liked Queen better with Freddie and God knows he spent lots of money on foolish things.

Well, I was talking about the Queen of England.
But Belgium does have a King and Queen.
They do very little either, except get a very extravagant allowance (millions a year) for cutting a few ribbons.
The Queen of England, well, she's one the richest people in the world.
And yet, when one of her castles was damaged by fire, she had the tax payers pay the bill. Poor thing has to hold on to her savings, you know. You never know when she might have to buy a new sweater or something....

I heard the Royal family is part crazy from excessive inbreeding from generation to generation.

                            Not sure if it's true.

Latest theories say that Jack The Ripper was a member of the Royal Family.
Man, I didn't know Charles was that old.
He does have a craving for old tarts, though, so that could be a clue...
