I was reading about this Italian director named Dario Argento and some of his movies. There's one called Suspiria that I want to check out, but can someone give me other recommendations?

My personal favorite is Opera.
I also really liked Inferno, I think it's part of the three mothers trilogy,
along with Suspiria.
Anyhoo, I saw Argento speak in Toronto a bit ago.
The editor of a local horror mag called Rue Morgue got into a little
tussle with him, accusing him of mysogyny.
Just FYI, you might some scenes hard to watch.
I'm not taking sides, just thought you'd want to know.Comment

Argento is fine...but give me George Romero over him anytime.

Argento was in his prime back in the early 70's to mid 80's.
My top Argento flicks:
1- Deep Red
2- Suspiria
3- Tenenbrea
4- Opera
5- Inferno
I do love his other movies like Phenomena and some of his other 80's stuff. He kind of panned out in the 90's but he's made a good comeback with Mother of Tears which is the final movie in his Three Mothers Trilogy.
It's actually pretty good but it's typical Argento, hardly any story and lotsa style.Comment

Me and Dario a couple of years ago.
I've also visited his store/museum in Rome. His museum is in the basement of his store and has some original props from his movies, pretty cool to see. So yeah, I'm a fan
Favorite movies:
Deep Red
Suspiria
Do you like Hitchcock? (Saw that in premiere on the big screen, only time that was ever shown on big screen)
His stuff for Masters of Horror (Jenifer and Pelts) is pretty cool too.
He also produced two brilliant zombie movies Demons and Demons 2 (don't watch if you don't like gore tho)"...The agony of my soul found vent in one loud, long and final scream of despair..." - Edgar Allan PoeComment

I always thought that "Do you like Hitchcock?" sounded like a great pick up line. I think that would work if a girl asked me that, I'd be like "F@#k yeah, let's pick up a couple bottles of red and go back to my house and watch Vertigo".Comment

Suspiria is THE Argento film in my mind. Keep in mind that there is the American R rated version and the unrated version. As far as I know, the unrated version is the one widely available on DVD. The R rated version will have a 20'th Century Fox logo and the "breathing" letters for the title (just like in the trailer). If you see this version, some of the gore, and one whole scene (not a violent scene), will be trimmed.Comment
