I was down in Manhattan today with my sister, as we were going to the Radio City Christmas show.
We popped into FAO Schwartz, and I immediately booked it upstairs past the Babs, Tonner, Breyer, and Madame Alexander section to the Action Figure Section.
It isn't that big, but it has all the newest stuff, including the Star Trek line.
I immediately grabbed a hold of Uhura, Mr. Spock and The Romulan.
She was $19.99, and the two guys were $9.99 each.
Not a bad haul, considering.
And oh my goodness! Talk about packed to the gills!
The place was wall to wall people, kids, salespersons, toys, and all sorts of lovely stuff.

Hey JediJaida,
I was there the other day and i scored the Uhura and the Mugato For $9.99 each. I asked to speak to a floor manager and informed him that online Their (2) for $19.99 (Uhura and Mugato at FAO.COM). He walked me to a teller and told her to give them to me for $10 beans each. Probably, You could get your $10 beans back if your in the area within 30 days. Good Luck!!! :yeah:

I was just going to send you all the link myself..:
FAO: Search Results (http://www.fao.com/catalog/search_celebros.jsp?form_state=frmKeywordSearch_ln&sortByColumnName=NAME&keyword=trek+star)
I'm ticked.. There USED to be one on Michigan Avenue in Chicago, but they moved out a few years back.. Darn it!
$9.99's still a super deal for just one.. I usually end up having to get a set for an alien, and selling the crew member. :wink_y:

The Chicago store moved into the Macys on State Street about a year and a half ago. There are only 2 stand alone stores now, NY and Vegas.

Are there still any online coupons that work to discount the price or get free postage for FAO.com?

Ask and you shall receive. This code (WELX1231) should save you 20% off any order. It expires 12/31/08. The code worked when I applied it to an item in my shopping cart but I didn't complete the transaction. Let us know if you're successful.

Thats exactly what I did and will do. I want a set of carded figures to dispaly and a loose set to put in the new repro bridge when it comes out and maybe a Dida display set for the aliens.
I figured I'd better do it now or pay more later, you snooze you loose.

The new FAO department in San Francisco's Macy's is a joke. 400 square feet, tops, and it's 90% stuffed animals.

My daughter would love the stuffed animals but I wouldn't bring her there. I would not pay their prices for stuffed teddies.

Several years ago, the VP in charge nearly bankrupt the company. Thats when they closed all the retail stores across the country. After laying low for awhile, they have reopened over 200 stores in different Macys. There are staffed stores at 1000 sq ft, and many more smaller 300 sq ft stores. The 300 sq ft ones are just there to test the area. From what I am told, in 2009 they may make the smaller ones larger and change around the product mix in the larger ones. Yes, the majority of stuff we have are plush animals. I am hoping for older kids toys like action figures and more remote control vehichles.

You might not want to wait too long. The last time I checked, FAO is sold out of the Spock/Andorian and Uhura/Mugato. I was thinking about ordering another Uhura/Mugato but I didn't want to do so until I received my initial order. It appears I'm too late now. :yeah:

Aw heck no! Don't pay the jacked up prices at FAO!
Go to the Build a Bear Workshop, which is only a couple of blocks away.
Their prices are very reasonable, they stuff the bear on the premises, and your daughter can even pick out the outfit she wants for her bear.
You're not gonna believe this but they even have superhero outfits for the animals; Batman, Spiderman, etc.
Take a look see. You won't be disappointed.
Check them out online, and see if they have any sales coming up. Especially after Christmas, the prices should drop.

I suspected it was something like that. Cheers to Macy's for keeping the brand alive (and I do realize that said brand is closely identified with deluxe stuffed animals) but nothing will bring back the SF FAO of my youth-- four floors, topped with a gigantic 1/6-scale Millennium Falcon.
