The reviews are ecstatic. But given my last phone ended up duct-taped together...well, I just can't have nice things...

A couple of my buddies bought them last night,
and I got to play with it for a few minutes.
Absolutely Stunning and Drop Dead Beautiful.
Very intuitive, smart, with an outstanding interface.
Surfing the web with wi-fi was great,
but using the ATT network was slow.
I'm guessing I'm the first person to view the Mego Musuem on an iphone.
It looked great, and zooming in and moving around pictures was fun.
If I wasn't under contract to another carrier, I would own one right now.

I don't care enough about video on the road to bother (not to mention the cost), although I like the idea of a good music interface. Hopefully Palm will be allowed to hack Sprint's system in the same way that Apple was (in order to offer things no other phone manufacturer has ever been allowed to before), and I can get most of this functionality on a later model Treo.

That is an excellent policy to have--I have the same policy with cars--stay away for the first model year.

They said tonight on the news people around here are having trouble getting them activated. Something about having to wait 72 hours to have it done.

Feel the same way.....I thought cell phones were for important things like being able to call for help when your car breaks down in the middle of the road or your kid gets sick in school.
Seems to me people love having things that are not neccesary.

I want to support Apple but I have no use for a Multi-media phone w/video. A phone with a music player would be fine but 2 grand for it? That's just crazy.

They're neat, but (for me) not worth the $500-600 retail price - and I'm certainly never pay $2,000 for one on eBay.

I own one. I was going to wait for generation 2, but I caved. It's amazing, but it missing some basic features, that will hopefully be added into the next software update.
I'm posting this from the iPhone by the way.

As far as it's worth in price, my iPod alone was $399 when I bought it, and this is an iPod, phone, internet device... It's actually a pretty amazing pice of technology. One you get one in your hand, and have time to test drive it, you'll see what I see.
