I used to like the Ultimate Warrior waaaay back in the day before he got all flakey and more incoherrent than normal...but he's a freakin' wack job now and is far from the "model citizen" as far as steroid use/abuse goes...

Superstar Graham is another one that was speaking on this recently too (steroid abuse) as well as Lex Luger.

I always hated Ultimate Warrior with a passion .......

I still remember, the day he beat Hogan was the day I stopped watching wrestling regularly ......

Looking back in retrospect Hogan NEVER should have jobbed to Warrior IMO...but at the time I was glad he did. But Warrior soon squandered the opportunity.

The thing with Warrior,

He had a lot of HATERS from the start.

Even when he beat Hogan, there were more boo's than cheer's coming from the audience.

Vince took a gamble and made a flavour of the week WWF champion, and it layed an egg------ not unlike ........ THE GOOBLIE-GOOK

The only time the Warrior ever got boo's was when he fought Hogan, other then that no other wrestler has ever had a louder audience then him.At that time the Warrior was the next best thing to Hogan and it was his time to move up.If it wasn't cause of the money issue,he would've stayed up there for a while

I hated both Hogan and Warrior growing. Now I think they are great because of how ridiculous they are!

Jun 29, '07, 8:31 PM
There's no doubt Hogan has more fans,he's always been around and will probably still be around for the next 20 years,he doesn't know when to give it up.The Warrior had his run and decided that wrestling wasn't his life and he wasn't going to take anymore of Vince's crap,So he packed up his bags and gave it up,would I have liked to have seen the Warrior stay longer? of course, but I don't blame him for leaving. Now on the other hand you look at Hogan now and he looks like if he's 70 years old and he's still wrestling, come on pops give it up already
So I think you know who i think was the best ever and will be the best ever

How come this got spun off into it's own thread? It was originally part of the Benoit thread. Just curious...

While he gets cheers in the following video, he also gets plenty of boos and jeers as well, I myself can't stand his politics and his anti-gay stance.

It's a long one:

toys2cool

I don't follow his political stuff, nor do i agree with his opinions.I'm just a fan of the wrestling character Ultimate Warrior and body builder Jim Helwig

Hulk
Jun 30, '07, 7:35 PM
He believed his own character's hype WAY too much for any reasonable person. I wouldn't want to live in the same town as a kook like this, yet look up to him, but to each their own.

In our PPV watching group, we were so sick of Hogan by that time we
happy to see anyone beat him. In retrospect who knew how Warrior would turn out? I did enjoy the Warrior during his first run which this was part of.
All of of his subsequent comebacks from '92 on, not so much.

never been a big hogan fan but, he is entertaining, though out wrestling history there have been wrestlers who got really popular without knowing much about technical wrestling (hogan, kevin nash, warrior, cena)

Bret's the man, in the world of pro wrestling there is so many early deaths and wack jobs, Bret seems to be a normal enough guy who worked hard for everything he got in the business.

Okay then name a better technical wrestler than him and I'll agree with you. :wink_y:

I know it's not the warrior?
I mean all he had was the gorilla press, the warrior splash and pumping the ropes(which is not even a move). :wink_y: :smiley1:
Crowd pleaser sure.
No offense meant D.

lol! non-taken (By the way how many wrestlers could do that Gorilla press? ;) )

That's the thing,it's not about one thing. It's a combined package.Bret was a great technical wrestler but he could never get a crowd going like Warrior,Hogan or the Rock could

He had no personality kind of like Benoit

the ultimate warrior is a wrestling legend. Nobody has matched his intensity or hilarious outlandish interviews lol. I admit when I was younger I idolized Hogan but Warrior was mega popular still. Not trying to start an arguement, but why does him using steroids make him "far from a model citizen"? I want to know your take on it. Pro wrestlers (who knows how many) have admited to using pretty much every illegal drug known to man. Id say all things considered..steroids would be the last one to worry about. Yeah everyones seen all the media propaganda and spectacle of the chris benoit incident. But he was obviously a nutcase to begin with:googly:

First off all, this thread was actually part of another that got out of hand at one point if I recall...the mods just happened to have restarted it with my post. So you're taking it somewhat out of context. :muh:

If memory serves my point was the Warrior (along with Superstar Graham and Lex Luger as I mentioned) has a tendency to get on his soapbox lately and talk about steriods and illegal drugs being prevalent in wrestling whenever a tragedy (ala the Chris Benoit incident) occurs. When in fact he was one of the biggest offenders of steriod abuse and thus "far from the model citizen" he now portrays himself to be. :sarky:
