On the front and back of EMCE Khan, the Mugato is spelled "Mugato". On the front of the Uhura and Mugato, it is also spelled "Mugato". But on the back of the Uhura and Mugato cards, the Mugato is now spelled "Mugatu".

Follow? :smiley1:

EMCE wasn't the only one unable to decide on which spelling to go with..

Michael Crawford's Review of the Week (http://www.mwctoys.com/REVIEW_101602b.htm)

Playmates couldn't settle on a spelling either.. using the U for their 4" fig, but the O for the 12"..

Desilu/Paramount couldnt figure it out either. In the actual episode credits, and the script the creature is called a "GUMATO"!!!

Noticed that too. I was wondering if it was keeping in line with a Mego error or what. I'd rather just call him horny disco monkey myself.

From what I heard, he is "Gumato" in the script but the actors kept messing up the pronunciation into "Mugato" and it was decided to stick with it (but no one told the credits people).

I think the suit was owned by Janos Prohaska and it was used in a Here's Lucy episode (without the horn and back spikes) as a rare white Gorilla and in a Voyage To The Bottom Of The Sea episode in the forth season.

Someday I will tell you guys the story of the Mugato/Mugatu, but not today.

Mego called him Mugato and we did too, but there was some confusion on the
back of the card between versions. I promise that if and when we do another
run of him, the back will say Mugato too.

One Mugato.
Two Mugatu.

Any more, it's Mugati...

It's ancient Arameic for "silly monkey from the skies"....
