Is it me or are the MM members' collective spelling mistakes getting more
and more outrageous as the years amble on?

It took me forever to try to decipher surcome, which I think was supposed to say "succumb" ? No?

Us handicapped spellers like the politically correct term "shorthand"

It's probably true and very sad...pancreatic cancer is the most deadly cancer with the shortest life expectancy.

God bless him. Probably one of the few Hollywood idols that I actually thought was pretty cool. My favorite movies of his were Point Break and Road House. I did like his bigger hits like Ghost and Dirty Dancing, but those films became so saturated on TV and DVD, it's hard to watch them with a fresh perspective. His legacy will endure.

Guess, knowing that even though I'm a horrid speller, and that
many in the Museum are as well, I never thought I'd see the day
someone would "surcome" to anything ;)

I'd settle for "Grade C"

Send me your balls.

A tough road lies for him. May he have the strength and will to persevere. I hope it's not true.

From what I've read he's already saying goodbye to family and friends as he has only a few weeks to live

I saw that when I went on wiki---I'll take it that it's accurate info---
---apparently it spread to vital organs in a fashion that confirms
it as terminal.

Scary. Seems like he has handled it as well as can be expected.

No one's mentioned his work in RED DAWN---I saw it recently and I thought
it was a pretty good movie.

GHOST will always be my definitive Swayze flick though....heck, it could be
my definitive Demi and Whoopie flick as well---it's that good.

Yeah Red Dawn was good and so was the Outsiders even though he had a small part.

and yes I agree with you on Ghost, still one of the best movies ever.My mom took us to see it like 12 times at the movies in 91 when I was 11...I kid you not  and we enjoyed it all 12 times. My mom even payed $100 for the VHS movie when it was first released

Is it me, or are people dying younger and younger, from all kinds of cancers...

Must be all the crap we're eating/drinking/breathing.....

Today's life expectancy is the highest ever.

The thing about cancer is that it has always struck people since the dawn of time..it's just that it was not always diagnosed as such...especially in the old days.

That's true. It's the same thing with food poisoning. It's been happening a log time but it's only now we have the tech know how to boil down a person's problem to that or to detect some sort of contamination in the food supply. Back about 50 years ago, such a thing would go unnoticed and people would get sick and attribute it to... getting sick, instead of getting bad food somewhere.

It's too late for Swayze, but Japanese scientists (with some help from American scientists) have found what looks to be a cure for three kinds of cancer (prostate, colon and breast). The patients treated with the cure 7 years ago are all cured and no relapses in 7 years. Sounds promising for sure. They're now working on curing the other cancers

I didn't read the E! article but this is terrible

I know you shouldn't believe everything you read on wiki--
but the info seemed legit

This is just not the type thing to be sloppy about----apologies if
I contributed to it...

I really hope Swayze puts up the best fight possible
with the best results possible.

I also saw something where he says he's not dying yet and is actually doing pretty good. Said he seems to be taking well to the treatment and it hasn't spread to his liver or kidneys. Good news. A great actor that stays married to the same woman and doesn't get hooked on drugs or go to AA is a rarity. Loved Roadhouse. He kicked major butt in that movie. Heard the new thing he's working on is supposed to be pretty good too.
