Well, being a noob myself, the first thing I would do is to check the MM accesory check list for this particular figure and study it and what repro parts are available.

Then I would ask the seller if any parts say DM, CTVT, or anything else that would indetifiy itself as being a repro per the MM site. If the seller dosn't want to comply, then pass on it.

The only thing thats bad on the MM accessory check list is that it is majorly out of date and needs to be updated as it says some parts are unique to a particular charector and no repro parts have been made, that is wrong.
After doing some reseach on things I find more and more of this to be the case, you just gotta becareful.

Lynn

The accessory check is NOT majorly out of date. It lists Mass Produced repro parts. If you think you can list 5 mistakes in the next hour on the Accessory Check, and can prove them, I'll send you a free (completely repro parts) figure.

Majorly out of date is Majorly Overstating and Majorly Rude.

Why does the seller's ID ring a bell? koltdee?

Post your "errors" here. I can't imagine you've found very many valid mistakes. Read the intro where it says FACTORY made accessories are included but hand-cast repros are not.

The first thing I would ask is if there are any markings on the back of his neck. The real alter ego CK does not have any wording on his neck.

If you can ask him to send you a closer shot of the figure and the accessories, that would help. The real glasses do not have any space where the glasses sit on the nose (repro glasses have a small bridge). From this picture, the glasses look authentic. Also, the original hat is smaller than the repro and the repro has a wider brim.
The tie on the repro is machine sewn across the top of the tie closer to the top of the shirt where the original looks like a single stitch that is sewn through the snap on the other side.

The picture is not that great but from what I can see, it looks real.

You can see the differences in the museum pics. If you like, I can send you pics of my original and a repro next to it but the museum pics are very accurate.

Someone (besides Stabilio) please tell Lynn why the following items do not qualify for Accessory Check...

Iron man belts, boots, and gloves, and goblin boots, Zaius boots, Falcon boots, Thor wrist bands and Thor boots

I'll give you a clue...

Directly from the Accessory Check page...

There are many hand casted and home made reproduction parts out there. They are too numerous to catalog and address, but most are easy to identify.

Comment retratced and I apologize.

I must have missed that part... but when I read the part about Thors helmet and hammer being hand cast telling why it was a repro on its check list, I figured the others were an oversite and not updated to reflect the same.

My apologize, no offence to anyone here.

Glad we worked that out Lynn. Accessory Check is an awesome resource. It will never be complete due to hand cast items, but it is worlds more advanced than what we had before, which is pretty much nothing.

And thanks to DM we'll soon need an accessory check for Star Trek as well ;)

Actually we'll just need an update. There were already a number of items on it.

Me too, no problem Paul!! That list has saved my butt a couple times, so for me it is a pretty invaluable tool.

As the author of the Accessory Check pages, that have all been written within the last year by the way, I have to echo the reading part. READ THE INTRO. There is NO possible way to catalog every handmade and hand casted part every made. All of it is easy to spot when holding it in your hand.

Not saying I might not have made a mistake here or there, I know right now I have forgotten that Daisy Duke shoes were repro'd by CTVT, but other than that there is nothing that I know of or that has been pointed out.

Each item listed in Hulk's post, is HAND CASTED and very obviously repro to the point where a description is really unneccessary.

Thank you and have a nice day.

Of all the people Ron was the one that pointed out the Daisy Duke shoes to me at Megomeet. Hmmm... makes one suspicious. He seems to REALLY know what parts CTVT had made.

Is it me or does it look like it's on a Type 2 body? I know the picture isn't crystal clear but the hands don't look like Type 1 hands.

It does look a little like a T2, but is hard to tell. Since the AE's didn't come on any body, that doesn't really mean a lot though. They came out in the T1 era, but they were packaged as a head, clothes and accessories, so the body doesn't mean a whole heck of a lot really.

That's true. It's just every auction I see for stuff like this, they're on Type 1s. It's just something I've gotten use to.

Sure fire way to tell. Wait until the end of the auction and see who bids and how much it goes for. Too bad you don't know who bidder1, bidder2 and bidder3 are. They might all be newbies. But I don't think so on this one.

I think he was real. The hat said allot to me when I first tuned in.
