1.A Hard Day's night......still funny love the who's that little old man " he's very Clean" bit still makes me laugh.

2.Yellow Submarine- fabulous fantasy tale with cutting edge animation of the time. it was a Holiday favorite of mine.

3.Help!- Kaaaaaaaaeeeeeeeellllllllleeeeee!!!! lol! Loved this not as funny as the first movie but it has it's bits...loved the scene when they are in makeup hiding they looked like their later versions.

4.Magical Mystery Tour- it's not great but the singing bits save this bad idea.

6.Let it Be-I never really enjoyed this because you can see the rift already there especially when you see Paul and George go at it........

7.Anthology-The whole beatles story told from there point of view an excellent documentary for all fans.

Other note worthy Films
Birth of the Beatles- ABC TV one of my fave movies about the Beatles from their beginnings up to the First trip to America.

BackBeat- Like birth of the Beatles but for the big screen. A bit more raw showing how rough the early days were but had a Kick *** soundtrack

A Hard Days Night

Let It Be

HELP

Magical Mystery Tour

...in that order. I've not seen "Yellow Submarine" in it's entirety. If we're counting the Anthology, it would be at the top of my list.

Yellow Submarine.

That's my vote.

I think it's simply "perfect".

Not perfect.

If the Beatles voiced their characters, it would have been perfect.

Not perfect.

If the Beatles voiced their characters, it would have been perfect.

I don't agree.

I love the voice actors' performance and can't rightly see how the
"real" Beatles could have topped it.

It don't surprise me considering how much you're looking up to Star Dreck

Hmmm.

I hear ya.

But to see both sides, you have to look at it from my perspective.

I look at you as someone who has these silly rules
about art in which the original can't be used as inspiration
to make good product....you hold it WAY too holy.

To me that's elitist thought AND very limited vision
which nullifies any opportunity to enjoy something
that withOUT the silly rules may have potential to satisfy you.

1. But you'd never know because of your stubborn mindset.

and

2. You judge others by your (silly) rules.

That doesn't seem very "logical" to me.

IMO, A Hard Days Night is by far the best, or I guess I should say my favorite. They still seem to be having fun, it's still funny and a little more innocent than some of the rest.

The cinematography in Hard Days Night is also copied a lot in parodies et al. So I would think it was the most influential.

Agree with most of everyone's analysis...:

1) "Hard Day's Night" definitely was the best, with all the energy, quick wit and pacing..

2).. Although "Help"'s my personal favorite, I wish that all the discarded footage was somehow saved (not burned in a 1966 clean up of the editing studio as reported by Shenson..Lennon claims they were the best bits, everyone high and giggling) and the non-Beatle scenes get somewhat long and laborous.. Making the whole picture kind of slow over all, pacing-wise.

3) After watching Mystery Tour a few times, the only part that really kills it is the stupid 'Race Competition' a third of the way in. Seriously (I have it on my iPod now..), if they would have tossed that entire bit out, it would have made for a cooler little psychedelic home movie.., the rest of it was alright, some bits pretty cool in a goofy way.

4) Yellow Sub: SO GLAD they re-digitized it for home theater.. The colors REALLY bleed off the big plasma screen I have.

5) Let It Be..? The director admitted to preferring the dismal parts of footage to try and document his ideas for the group falling apart. Apparently , Lennon was a hoot during lots of the filming, and a few genuinely entertaining parts were left out. Not to say there wasn't turmoil, but the film could have easily been edited more 'optimistically', according to those who were interviewed as being there.

6) Compleat Beatles: Not to be forgotten, a nice mid-80s documentary with great narration and good footage, some rare at the time..

7) Anthology: A fan's dream in many ways, although I hate some of the talk I've heard that some reminisces were a bit made up by the Fab Three; still, a welcome close on the legacy. My favorite bits are when the Three are just sitting around the table (or at George's estate..) talking together, nodding and adding to the other's comments, which documents the only real post-breakup cohesiveness we've seen publically.
