Just got the FAO Schwarz catalog. They are featuring the EMCE Trek figures. Beautiful pictures. That seems like a big deal to me. Congrats.

What are they charging? $50 each? FAO's prices are always ridiculous.

They are actually charging $40 per pair including Kirk and Klingon. Seems reasonable to me.

I'll see if I can scan the page.

That link of Mugato is missing "V" black chest emblem with dark red dots. I think that's for sample only.

Also, I think that's the first showed to us or prototype? That Lt. Uhrua is the same as mine one.

That is the first sample Mugato shirt I got from China - it was missing the
V emblem. That Uhura is a vintage one.

These pictures were shot last spring/summer.

Wow,

Thanks for information about that. I'll writing down about modern and vintage Megos history, great to learning from you and this Mego Museum history information!

BTW, that vintage Uhrua look a lot like mine EMCE Uhrua but she has a slight large Insignia than the vintage one. I like both looks good, not a problem.

I think most Macy's stores now have FAO Schwarz departments at the very least I know for sure there is one in the Down Town Chicago Macy's and I know there is an FAO Vegas. So there are brick and mortars out there.

What is "FAO", "Schwarz" and "TRU" means? Just curious. ;)

FAO Schwarz is a specialty toy store. If you ever saw "Big" with Tom Hanks, the toy store where he and Robert Loggia danced "Chopsticks" on the big piano was FAO Schwarz.

"TRU" is simply short-hand for Toys-R-Us.

TRU= Toys R Us

FAO Schwarz is a high end toy store.

If I'm wrong sorry Pat but I think those are what they are.

They still have a big store in midtown Manhattan next across from the Plaza Hotel
on the edge of Central Park - 57th and 5th Ave.

It is nice to see this page on their website. It is pure joy.

This is just awesome on so many levels. First...its really great to see these out on the shelves at Christmas time just like back in the day. Second...its really great to see someone like Paul who has done so much for the hobby have this degree of success with his venture. Kudos Paul!!!

Unrelated, but my plug for FAO..:

One of the coolest Christmases on record was when I first started 'recollecting' vintage Joe items and two days before Christmas 1996 I called down to the Chicago store and ordered the 'new' limited edition GI Joe Astronaut. They cautioned me that it most likely won't get to me by Christmas Eve, but I didn't care, since I was still single and living life!

Lo and behold.. I got home from evening church about 10pm on the 24th and there it was.. Shimmering under the moonlight at my side door..

FAO made my Christmas that year..! :please_y:

I finally made it to FAO Schwarz last Thanksgiving while I was in NYC to hear my wife's ensemble sing in Carnegie Hall. I spent the entire afternoon there. I just basked in the glory of all those toys, investigated every nook and cranny, and then had a chocolate shake at the antique soda fountain. It was singularly one of the coolest times I've ever had.

But how much cooler would all that be if you could see a Mego display at FAO? Mind numblingly cool! Seeing them in a Christmas Catalog is like travelling back in time to my childhood. Priceless!

Congrats on another step in making it big time, Paul!
