I'm not really sure why i collect these, never read too many Rock comics but I am a huge fan of Joe Kubert so maybe that has something to do with it.

Whenever I have an extra $20 in my pocket I seem to scower ebay looking for deals on these guys.

http://www.megomuseum.com/dump/remcorock.jpg

For now I only collect Rock himself, seeing as none of easy company are a part of this series, the rest of his crew are generic.

The Play set is recycled from the Universal Monsters set and works just as well.

Anybody else an admirer of this line?

you know I have not seen these in years. I actually used to have some of them but had forgotten they were from Sgt. Rock. I thought the figures were crappy as a kid but used them with GI Joe's back in the day. They don't have enough articulation.

I agree, I'm not overly fond of the figure itself either, just love the esthetic of the package.

I liked the line when it first came out, but like you was disapointed that the rest of easy company was not released also.

I know these were released in Canada as I had many of them as a kid. Have you laid eyes on some Canuck Rocks, Brian? I wonder if Irwin released them

A friend of mine , Andy Price , went to the Joe Kubert school . It helped him incredibity in the business, He has done several comics and his art is incredible these days.

I spoke with Andy at Wonderfest this year. He has been setting up there for several years now. To say he's a very good artist is an understatement.

God, I love these toys, I have a whole lot of loose peices now. Only had Sgt. Rock then.

Remco had some great stuff when I was little. Sgt. Rock would fight the Universal Monsters, the help GI Joe beat on Cobra, and helped the Hulk jack some stuff Baron Karza a few times too!

Yeah, I was a caaaaaaaaa-razy kid.

I never saw these on the toy store shelves of Western Canada, otherwise I'm sure I would have picked some of them up...if for no other reason than the Kubert artwork on the packaging, and the fact that I kinda saw Remco as the Mego wannabe of the eighties.

I had a bunch of Sgt. Rock figures as a kid. Still have a few from back then. I have often thought about picking up some carded examples but have yet to go there. Cool line.

I bought a bunch of Sgt Rocks as a kid. Just Rock. It was my firts attempt at "army Building" as nice as the First wave of GI Joe RAH was I wanted WW2 guys.

I REALLY should have been born in England. ACTION FORCE

I find it interesting that DC's actual logo is featured so prominently on the packaging. That certainly wasn't the type of thing that was common back then.

It's the best thing about the series IMO.

I'd have never noticed this but I've read somewhere that a lot of the military equipment Sarge comes with is modern day, yet the character was set in WW2.

Or right huge open pockets. WHY?

STill with a little work you make some Last Starfighter customs out of those sucky enough no one would ever see them.

If you remember most of the accessories had a hook (Knives,Radios, and Grenades) so you could hang them on the pocket.

Yes thanks to my army building attempt my Joes had plenty of extra Grease Guns.

I remember seeing tons of them on sale at kaybee as late as 1985-86

I had the machine gun nest, and a bunch of figures too used them as background filler-Also had the generic bad guy figures that remco made from the same molds(just repaints)-I really liked remco's assorted lines from the 80's

I loved the Rock Bad Guys I think they even had Snake like names. And they were also intermixed with my Joes. Just like today off brand was always A OK for me as long as the accessories were cool.

MASH helo and the ROCK jeep were both favs for me

For me, they only became auxiliary Cobras for my Snake Eyes to shoot. But the machine gun bunker my aunt bought for me was fantastic! How many sets/vehicles were there? I've never really looked back on this line much, maybe worth a 2nd look.

I remember seeing the ads in the comics, but I don't honestly remember seeing these in stores. I do remember the concurrent Warlord series. I had one of those guys, but which one escapes me. It was a Christmas gift from a neighbor. They assumed he was a MOTU figure.

Gi joes never had a machine gun nest.in the beginning, the fact that it was in scale and cheap meant we could use a bunch of them. The gi joe playsets like the ammo dump etc were the price of 2 or 3 SGT Rock sets.

Very true-I like to think of the lanard corps. figures as the sgt.rock figures of today-Low price and pretty great quality-Great for troop building for sure.

anyone here like the corps. figs?

Yep love Corps too both classic Joe style and new sculpt.

awsome jeeps and tanks. The older military helo (heuy Cobra) was cool not the current one. Not to mention a 6 wheeled jeep. i also like the true heroes vehicles from TRU

I used to get em at K mart, Heck's, Murphy Mart, and Hill's. They were cheaper than Gi Joes but they were so cool. I had a bunch of those guys, and they often were the enemy of the joes. I even had the bad guys that were the same but they had black fatigues with the silver boots. I killed about every single one except I think I still have SGT ROCK in my box of little men, he was my favorite one. Sadly all the others were shot, burned, blown up, or shot into the atmosphere rocket propelled. I miss you guys thanks for all the play time. They killed lots of joes and cobras, along with starwars too. :wink_y:
