Great choice, he knows how to do period pieces ala Rocketeer and Raiders.

That gives me hope for a WWII era Cap movie. Rocketeer is just a great movie period.

Seeing the director's other credits gives me hope for a decent Cap movie. Now, if the casting is just right...

This is one I really want them to get RIGHT! And Marvel seems to off to a good start...let's hope!
Rumor has it that it will take place entirely in WW2(YES!!!!)...and end with Cap being frozren in the Iceberg...leading directly into "The Avengers" Movie to be released two months later(Produced, and maybe even diected by Jon Favreau).

They Should Get John Cena to play Captain America. I think it Would Work,.. He's flipp'in Built Like a Brick House,.. Has some Acting Ability, & With Cap, imo you don't need some Fantastic Oscar Actor to sell the Role.... What you need is Some Action For Tough Guys, Who like Tough Movies.

I could see the Rock as Capt America, but Will Smith? I dig Will but dont see him as Capt.
I just don't like it when they play 2,if he already played Hancock then that's it.
It's like Halle berry playing both Storm and Catwoman...it's just stupid

10 years ago, Howie Long would have had the perfect look for Cap after the super serum, IMO

I've always said it and people always look at me funny when I say Brad Pitt. I say Brad Pitt would be a dead on Cap. He was great in Troy, as I watched that flick I thought "He would be perfect!" But again that's my opinion and you know what they say about opinions............

Just like with Chris Reeve as Superman...I feel an "Unknown" is the way to go. So that the first time You see Him...He IS Captain America...because We've never seen Him any other role. He doesn't bring any Bagage with Him.

Joe Johnston is a Step in the right direction. His Rocketeer is a Classic and almost spot on to the comic book.
I'd like to see an unknown or an actor that hasn't a lot of baggage. No Wrestlers no Brad pitt he's too old!!! A real Actor to convey Cap's kick *** Character. He comes from the 40's ever met those Veterans? Those were a bunch of fearless in your face Kick your *** Americans....they feared nothing and kicked Nazi ***!!!

If they could find a modern equivalent of Kirk Douglas, that would be a cool Cap.

CGI Takes care of that. The guy who played the Abomination in the new Hulk movie had a CGI body. So did Tobey McGuire in Spiderman. So I'm sure that's how they'll handle skinny Steve Rogers.
