Dr. Galen, Planet of the Apes

It's been WEEKS since I have done anything custom related for myself, so I thought I would treat myself to a quickie sculpt of Dr. Galen. I started with a Mego and sculpted features on top of that.

This is what I started with:

    This is how he progressed:

He is now "curing" since I worked Apoxie on him. I tried sculpey baking clay, but the magic was not there...and admittedly, I was too lazy to go downstairs and toast him up in the toaster oven.

Hope he looks really menacing when I am done painting him up.

Samples of my work are found here: Life, Liberty and Pursuit of Happiness

    To do list:
1:6 boots for Mathilda, 1:1 Romulan Commander outfit, Ursus helmet; Cornelius appliance
    1:9 scale ape's new suit for Cornelius;

Great sculpting job Jessica. I can't wait to see him finished and starring in his own operating room photo shoot.

Coming along very nicely with his very own custom ape appliances.

Very nice sculpt work. I believe Sculpey can be boiled also. Might make working with an original head a bit easier than the oven.
It's not a doll it's an action figure.

                    Nice Work!

Looks like one of those John Chambers retrospects you see on the POTA DVD. I'm sure he'll look great when hes painted!

Very good job. Looks like how we reconstructed faces from skulls in anthropology class years ago.

He needs more work and a new set of duds, but yes, as soon as I am able to, I would like to dust off those operating tables and do a nice photo shoot.

I added more hair to his head and I used a basting pin for the lines.

He's also drying on a rack while the rest of his fur cures. I used a blunt pencil to create the fur strokes of his arms.

                              Hey Jess
Thats is kinda funny. You used an AJ head as a base for your excellant sculpt. In a way your kinda giving AJ the Capt. Action treatment. Could you think it if mego had gone that route?
