Some variants/extras that I can think of:
Fedora, trenchcoat, and sunglasses so the Phantom can become Kit Walker*.
Flintlock pistols and pirate boots so we can have an 18th Century and earlier Phantom.
*for "Ghost Who Walks"

This is cool news, and very exciting. I must add that IMO that Throne and Puppy are an absolute must. Then I'd have to find him a horse as well. And a cave to live in. :please_y:

I came close to buying a white Breyer horse in anticpation a month or two back but it was a "dirty" white so I didn't. I think Dave said that someone is sculpting a throne and Devil for a Con exclusive or something.

I was fortunate enough to "play" with these figures for the photo shoot, and I gotta say, they are fantastic. They have that Mego feel, but it is taken up several notches for today's discerning collector. See that comic strip panel photo in the upper left? That position is not photo-manipulated. The Phantom can hold his guns in that position. How cool is that?
I gotta give a shout-out to my pal Bobby White who took the photos and helped me stage everything. He's a talented guy, and is quite stoked to be playing with action figures professionally! :)

Yes, I'd say they'd stand up to play just like a Mego would, and maybe better. We posed them A LOT and they still felt tight and sturdy afterwards! Also the arm-to-shoulder connection is sturdier and better done than Mego (and also more articulated), so that common issue with kids and Megos shouldn't be a problem. My soon-to-be 7 year old son is looking forward to them as well!
The photos were taken before Dave and Jason got in more of their bodies, so yes Achmed is built on a Type 2 Mego in those photos, but he will be produced with the same Castaway body as the Phantom and Captain Action and Dr. Eville.

Jason asked me to post some shots of the final package art, so you know what to expect. I had a BLAST on these.

The package fronts of Phantom and Achmed will have the same art, but will have their own personal name or title over the Phantom logo. I was trying to go for a modern pulpy-feel on the front, also inspired by the old Charlton Phantom covers.
You can really appreciate my friend Bobby's awesome photos of these figures on those package backs. I'm so glad we were able to capture that moody feel we were going for!

Thanks Chris. Yes, it was VERY exciting for this old comic fanboy to get to draw the Phantom on an officially licensed product. Playing in the same sandbox as guys like Sy Barry, Jim Aparo, Don Newton, Dick Giordano, and all the other greats who have drawn the Phantom is quite a thrill for me. Once again I have to thank Dave and Jason for giving me the opportunity!

Hi, Dave.
I just placed orders for the Phantom Early Bird, Capt A, and some accessories.
I was wondering: do the figures have collector-friendly packaging? Just wondering. I love your Castaways recloseable clamshells (do you still sell those, by the way?)?
Thanks! :smiley5:

Not Dave, but I can answer that question: Yes, they will be packaged in the Cast-a-way clamshell packaging with the backer card art I posted on the previous page.

Beautiful! Figure and package-love the chair!
Thanks Jay! It's a great time to be Mego/8-inch figure collectors, with Cast-a-way, EMCE and your own Captain X stuff to choose from. All great, high-quality stuff!
That chair is a beauty to behold, and hold in person. Jason knocked that one out of the park. I hope they are able to figure out a way to release it. I think folks will go nuts for them!!!

Castaway is accepting EB orders until December 1st so I think it may be a few months before we see The Ghost Who Walks.
