Suit looks a little different then the prototype --- I don't think Khan showed man-cleavage until the movie :smiley1:

Great figure !!!!!!!!

Congrats to all -- and especially to Captain Dunsel and Doctor Mego

Right in line with the way Mego would have handled it. Of course they may have added bell bottoms.

Yeah, I agreed about that. The proto Khan's shirt look match it's circle logo on the front carded (on the top)

jemboy2004

maybe this example's shirt is a mistake and the rest of the production figures will be more like the proto. I hope so as the proto with the button on top and closed looks better to me, otherwise it's a great looking figure.

The prototype wasn't great, but the production one in that picture ensures business to anyone that can come up with a better version (and some of the variant costumes he wore in Space Seed anyway). It looks like a bad mashup version of the AJ diving suit. Its like someone in China saw Wrath of Khan and decided we needed to see more manboob

Maybe I'll button him up for the sake of dignity.
Bell-bottoms? THAT is a good idea. Retro-future?

I think that is why I like it better. I have a mix of space seed and wrath in my head.

At any rate, anyone who disagrees with me isn't my friend anymore.

On the bright side, the head looks a lot nicer painted than the prototype. I thought the prototype's eyebrows were kinda big.

Captain
Oct 10, '08, 7:52 PM
I think...maybe?...somebody tried to incorporate the design of the sick bay jammies Khan wore in the episode (chest exposed...no sleeves though) to the red outfit he wore. Do the suit in blue, lose the sleeves and it would have been close to dead on....Not that I'm complaining. I think any of us would buy a Khan, even if he wore checkered baggy pants and a "I Love Smurfs" t-shirt!!!

I received two of them today. The first thing I noticed was that the facial skin tone was reddish, like Scotty's. However, in this case, it's much more in line with the television character's skin tone than the pale-skinned prototype on the back of the card.

I like it. In my opinion, it looks more like Ricardo Montalban than the prototype. And I like the man cleavage too. Very Wrath of Khan. Nice mixture of series and movie.

I think it looks freaking awesome. For goodness sake... it's a NEW Star Trek "Mego".... what more could one want out of life??? lol. Never thought I would EVER see this day...
I also reserved with Planet-X, and paid them when they sent the email tonight, so hopefully I will have mine soon as well.

Sorry, but I just think this is AWESOME... a nice "what if" that is now actually happening!

Then Sulu & Chekov.... Geeez.... I might be dreaming....

I thought it looked a bit redish...and while that doesn't work for a Scottsman....it definately DOES work for Khan, considering His origin.

And I'm going to wait until Doc gets His supply from Hastings...and order directly from Him.:wink_y:

My order with Planet X isn't confirmed :( The closest Hastings store is about 200 miles from here, so I'm guessing I'll have to call a store directly and have them shipped.

I, too, am not as fond of the manufacturing line changes from the proto, but I choose to focus on the fact that NEW MEGO FIGURES ARE ON THE PEGS, BABY! :D

Thanks again, Doc! You really rock!

$10.50 shipping from CAN to USA? Is that excessive? Honestly, I woulda been very surprised if shipping had been under $10..

Reminder of this thread:

Khan will be available - Mego Talk (http://megomuseum.com/community/showthread.php?t=15966)

Once Doc Mego and NewForce get their allocation from Planet X, you can order from them. NewForce has already sold out of their allotment, but I think Rick hopes to get more and maybe have some left over from his pre-sell.

And as Planet X's site says, they may have more to offer after pre-sells are fulfilled too:

ePlanet X - Specializing in Comics, Statues, and Figures from TV, Video Games, and Movies. (http://www.eplanetx.net/)

That's what I'm asked everyone but they never give me that site link........ but I'm glad you posted here about that link! :) I bookmarket it (Add Favorite File).

I'll pre-order that in case, also I ordered 2 Khan figures package from Dr.Mego.

The local Canadian shipping prices arent any better. Planet X is definately doing some big time gouging here. If I had known for sure Hulk or Doc or New Force would be able to carry them at the time...and knew of the shipping costs...I definately would've waited and just bought the figures through them.

Sideshow Spock

New Force is charging $9.95 US shipping for one Khan (take into consideration NewForce's cost to have cases of figs shipped from Canada to Florida), so you wouldn't be seeing any savings. I don't know what Doc is planning to charge for ship.

Don't blame Planet X for shipping costs. Everyone from FedEx to UPS to the post office
is charging more and more because of the cost of jet fuel.

Exactly!!
$10.50 from one country to another is NOT that bad.... In the past I have paid more for less going from USA to Canada.......

hello all...
tis true...normally, we chould ship a single figure for $5-7 depending on zip code, but in this case, since we are selling for the 19.99 retail, we have to make up the shipping cost from Can to the US, so rather than tack it onto the price of the product, it is worked into the aggregate shipping cost...
so, we are 29.94 shipped, and I will have extras.... we just got word that Planet X is shipping our order now, but it is quite large, so not sure how long it will take to arrive (1-2 weeks, I suspect)...
we presold 95% of our order, so I will have 5% or so available for in stock order once we receive...I assume Paul will be similarly priced, so between the 2 of us, hopefully everyone on the boards can get their fill....
I presold them before I joined the boards, or I would have set aside a quantity for you all...but, we are one of if not the largest current retailer/seller of Star Trek toys in the world, I believe, so our reg ST customers hit them all in like 4 hours of us listing on our site...
thanks

very cool, thanks...that makes me feel better... as mentioned though, the preorder sold out within 4 hours of me sending out my mass email notice, so not sure how many folks got in...already had a slew of PM's requesting...

and, as mentioned, I do have some minimal stock I didn't presell, so I will try to accomodate as many MM members as want to order!

I asked Planet X for some wholesale pricing on several cases way back when as well, which they never got back to me on, despite some back and forth with someone on whether they could accommodate my request.

I get home last night and I had an invoice for 100 Khan's asking me to pay via Paypal asap.

I told them thanks but no thanks. :googly:
