http://www.plaidstallions.com/toystores/lionel.jpg (http://www.plaidstallions.com/toystores/six.html) I'm always happy when I have enough of these images to fill another page. In our sixth installment we visit several toy stores on Halloween (kind of fitting). See a store visit by a giant MonChichi in 1983 and check out the many images from the video game explosion of the early eighties chockfull of Atari and INtellivision consoles and enough electronic games that your head will explode.

Everything from pictures of long gone department store fronts to toy aisles brimming with star wars, G.I. Joe, Tonka Trucks and Mego Superheroes.

Very cool! I spotted a Simon, Super Simon and a Microvision (I have the last 2) in the Game store. And yes, the Atari is still hooked up to my TV.

I was just saying to myself "Nobody ever tells me this was their store as a kid" Thanks for doing that Dave, it made my day.

Amazing stuff.

Thank you sir, I wish I could do this every week.

It's amazaing we love this type of stuff but I dare say not one of us has walked into a toy department and snapped pics to be posted 30 years from now. Why is that?

I was a Lionel Kiddie City guy, but seeing the Playworld was pretty cool.

That aisle of old Halloween decorations totally rocks. I just picked several of those jointed, flat Halloween decorations aloong with a couple blow-molded plastic Hallowwen lights to 70's-up my pad for the holiday!

I'm pretty sure I had a bunch of the decorations featured in that aisle as a kid.

You know, if I stilled lived in the neighborhood I lived in during my Mego days, I'd hit the local library to search the local paper in case there was some sort of pictures of my old Kiddie City.

That where I found the alien figures from the Galoob star trek series. Lionel Kiddie City was THE place to find stuff. TRU was always picked over - most likely by the guys working there . . .

Well to be honest Cassler's was the second toy store I had ever been to at that early age. I was born in New Hampshire and lived there until I was 12 and due to a job promotion with the Teamsters Union, My Dad moved us to Vermont.
In my youth, There were stores like Ames, and K-mart ect. I had never been to a "toy store" in my life.
When we finally moved to Vermont and finally made our way to the mall in South Burlington (I had never seen a mall either!) My eyes about fell out of my head when I layed my eyes on my first Kaybee toys. I had died and gone to action figure heaven.
It was on that day that I walked away with some new star wars figures and a few Flash Gordon figures (Ming and flash).

Just when I thought things couldnt get any better, I had been introduced to Cassler's and what makes this post so ironic is that when we went there, it was so that I could pick out my Halloween gear. So you can imagine how much it bowled me over to not only see the second toy store I had ever been to but to see it EXACTLY how I had first seen it (Halloween)

Bravo!

This really made my day!

ahhh man, I just went back into the archive and saw the photo of the Cassler's storefront that I used to go to. When I got out of the Navy and moved back to Vermont, I lived 2 blocks from that very store. Those were the days!

I absolutely adore the old toy store pics, it's one of my favorite features of PS. That aisle of Halloween decorations really brings back memories. I really regret that I never had the forethought to snap pics or even film anything like this even back in the early to mid Eighties *sigh*
