My top five:
1) Superman:The Movie (1978)- John Williams opening credits masterpiece
2) Batman (1966)- simple but brilliant
3) Batman (1989)- opening theme NOT the Prince crap
4) Spider-Man (1966)- catchy lyrics..."...does whatever a spider can..."
5) Captain America (1966)- "When Captain America throws his mighty shield"

Worse ever:
Tie: Amazing Spider-Man (1977)-sounds like a discofied porn soundtrack!
If You Could Read My Mind(1978)-Lois Lane's inner monolgue while flying over rooftops with the Man of Steel

The Green Hornet theme featuring Al Hirt has to be top ten. "Flight of the Bumblebee" was created independantly of the Hornet but the association has become pretty strong.
The Underdog theme also another simple but catchy one (ba-oo ba-oo..:music-smiley-016:B9)

That's a pretty dead on list.

William's Supes theme has NO equal, the greatest of them all for sure.

Got to go with the one from the 1989 Batman Movie. Was also used in the Animated series too wasn't it? Been awhile since I've seen either so I can't remember off hand.

Have you ever heard the 70s disco version of "Can You Read My Mind"? It's on the special edition of the Superman Soundtrack. Man, it is grooviliciously bad.

Your list is pretty dead on my picks. I also liked the different theme they used in the 66 Batman movie.

1. Adventures of Superman (George Reeves)

2. Max/Dave Fleischer Superman theme

3. Chris Reeve's theme

Note:
While I love Adam West's Batman, that theme is such a headache-- I can't see how anyone likes it :)

I'm with ya there! I still whistle the main theme whenever I think of the Flash. It just says "running". Great stuff.

My list has to do with memories I associate with the song.

Batman '66 - School got out at 3:20, Batman started at 3:30 - Mom didn't have to worry about me getting home safe because nothing was going to keep me from watching Batman!

Superman the Movie - That movie and its theme burned into my little 9 year-old-brain. To this day, I hear that song, I'm 9 years old all over again.

Batman '89 - still don't care too much for the movie...loved the theme.
Me: "Hey man, the guy that did that theme was in Oingo Boingo."
My friend: "Cool!...."Where's "Oingo Boingo"?" :juggleyes_y:

Wonder Woman - for this line only: " In your satin tights,
Fighting for your rights " :smiley1:

'67 Spider-Man - "Coupling" used this to great comedic effect in an episode or two.

and a new one that has grown on me:

The Batman (current)...Love it in that it seems like a combining of Batman '66 and Hawaii 5-0 themes. I've turned my 6 year-old niece into a Superhero fiend and this is her personal favorite, so I kinda like it, too. Maybe someday she will answer this kind of question and say she likes the theme because it reminds her of hanging out with her Uncle Todd.

Of course, although not technically a superhero, I always loved the SMDM theme music.
