So a while back, when Ben's book was first due to be released, I'd mentioned to him and in a couple of threads here on the forum that several people I knew or was acquainted with in the Metal music scene were quite interested in checking out the book. There's alot of Mego collectors and toy collectors in general in this scene, in fact. Among them are Charlie Benante and Scott Ian of the band ANTHRAX (who I'm sure many of you have at least heard of before). Recently, one of my closest friends who happens to work for Anthrax was able to snap this pic of drummer Charlie Benante displaying his newly acquired copy of the book, and I thought I'd share it with you guys and for Ben to see :)

He and Scott (who we didn't get a pic of yet, sorry!) were pretty amazed with the book, though I think Charlie is now hoping for a book that'll feature Planet Of The Apes Megos as well!

As times go by and more opportunities arise I plan to try and get more pics of some well known people in the music biz who are fans of Ben's book. I can't tell you how many people in the scene that I or my buddy Willie have spoken to who've said, "Oh man I've seen that book, it's amazing!" or "Yeah I picked up that book already!"

That is so cool! Thanks for sharing the pic.
At the HeroesCon in Charlotte, I saw Al Feldstein looking at a guy who was reading a copy of the book. Does that count as a sighting?

I thought that thread title sounded like an Anthrax reference. :smiley1: Cool pic, I remember reading in the past that Charlie and Scott were collectors. I wouldn't be surprised if Kirk Hammett has a copy too.

Yeah, I agree that Kirk would at the least be interested in this book if he didn't already know about it. I've got a friend who'll be in close contact with those dudes in a couple of months, I'm gonna try to find out.

Charlie!!!!!

I love Anthrax. One of the best bands of the 80s and 90s. Charlie and Scott rule. Awesome pic.

Holy crap!

I'm late to the game on this one, but oh WOW. That is just fantastic. How thoughtful of you to snap such a great shot, too. You just made my day, man.

Thank you! Metal up your arse!

Yeah, this pretty much RULES SCHOOL, as far as I'm concerned.

As a result of this amazing story and photo, I actually updated the WGT home page… something I haven't done in quite some time.

Again, I want to thank Larry for making this happen. This was a truly moving experience for me. Saying 'thanks' doesn't begin to express my appreciation.

Ah you're more than welcome, Ben. I'd told you ages ago that the 'Thrax guys seemed interested in the book and all, and I'd been meaning to hook this up for you back when you were first promoting the book's release. I'm sorry it took so long.

The credit really goes to my best bud Willie, who works for the band and was able to snap this pic for us. :applause:

Well I am not a famous Metal Head but Metal thru and thru. I play guitar, almost all of what I own are mid to late 80's Kramers. They are made for metal!!! I love the music from that era. I am also a collector of the cool toys of my childhood, Mego included.
