Supergirl joining "Smallville"

This fall, the 7th season of "Smallville" adds a new cast member...SUPERGIRL!
Yes, it's cousin Kara from Krypton. Part hasn't been cast yet but she's supposed to appear in about half of the eps. And she can FLY! All this according to TV Guide...

In DC currently there has been many storylines over who the real Supergirl is. There's Supergirl and Power Girl and an evil Supergirl. Maybe they plan on making this plot part of Smallville as well?

Just saw again the episode with Ria, who was from Krypton and escaped from the zone. Can somebody remind me of the story on the previous Kara? I saw the episode but it has been too long and I don't remember what was said and what happened.

TV Guide reports that Kal-El’s hot blonde cousin, Supergirl, is headed to The CW’s “Smallville.”
"She has all of Clark's powers and a couple he doesn't have yet," producer Al Gough tells TV Guide. "She can fly. And her response when Clark asks why is 'obviously girls mature faster than boys.'"

Just as in the comics, the arrival of the real Supergirl is preceded by a fake blonde Supergirl who visited Clark a few seasons ago.

The role of Kara Zor-El has not yet been cast.

“Smallville” begins its seventh season on The CW this fall.

Plot
Things come to a head in Smallville when Kara (Palicki), a beautiful girl with superpowers, who claims to be from Krypton, comes to entice Clark to fulfill his destiny. Overwhelmed by her appearance, Clark turns to his parents for advice but is shocked when the girl forces Jonathan to finally reveal the deal he made with Jor-El. Also, Clark makes a discovery that ultimately redefines his relationship with Lex, and Clark's relationship with Lana takes a final turn. Meanwhile, Lex turns the tables on Lionel with the FBI.

Kara was a normal human girl who was nearly killed by the meteor shower until Jor-El of the Kawatche Caves took her, robbed her of her humanity and made her into a superpowered being like Clark Kent. Kara was released from the Caves to bring Clark to Jor-El. She has more powers than Clark has now, and is far more advanced than him. Clark had told others that Kara was his cousin. After she brought him to the caves and Jonathan exposed her to who she really was, Jor-El had destroyed her as she completed her task.


It turnes out she was actually a possessed human.

Adrianne Palicki also was in the Aquaman pilot Mercy Reef.

I doubt it. They are probably better off recasting given the nature of the original Season 3 Kara story. Unless the producers really liked the actress... she did show up in Mercy Reef.
