http://www.plaidstallions.com/racktoys/parazaius.jpg (http://www.plaidstallions.com/racktoys/parazaius.jpg) My pal Bill sent these images on a few weeks ago and I forgot all about them, here is a parachuting Planet of the Apes (http://www.plaidstallions.com/racktoys/ahiapes.html) Doctor Zaius and notice he's packing heat. Zaius is dropping and this time it's personal....

http://www.plaidstallions.com/racktoys/pararobin.jpg (http://www.plaidstallions.com/racktoys/pararobin.jpg)Parachuting Robin from the Batman (http://www.plaidstallions.com/racktoys/ahibatman.html) series of toys is logical but damn, he's a tough one to find MOC.

http://www.plaidstallions.com/racktoys/1999pistol.jpg (http://www.plaidstallions.com/racktoys/1999pistol.jpg)This stun gun from the AHI Space:1999 (http://www.plaidstallions.com/racktoys/ahi1999.html) series of toys really hits home, I had it as a kid and I seriously miss that thing. I can do a pretty good Stun Gun sound too, wanna hear it?

DVD Day:

This is the BIG event for me this week, the final legitimate release of the Filmation DC Superhero Cartoons (http://www.amazon.com/DC-Super-Heroes-Filmation-Adventures/dp/B0018BDDFE/ref=sr_11_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1218414654&sr=11-1). We've happily seen various releases of the Superman/Aquaman series but dammit stuff like the Flash and Green Lantern I thought would never come. This set also includes the two Justice League cartoons. I had to go to the house of a kid i didn't like just to watch these because my parents didn't get the channel (grumble!).

http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/512ta1ULw5L._SL500_AA240_.jpg I'm seriously tempted to purchase this Season One DVD of the Love Boat (http://www.amazon.com/Love-Boat-Season-One-Vol/dp/B0018O5WTQ/ref=sr_11_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1218414193&sr=11-1), I watched this show a whole bunch as a kid. Between it and Fantasy Island (http://www.amazon.com/Fantasy-Island-Complete-First-Season/dp/B000B8IA3U/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1218414262&sr=1-1) (which is a pile of campy fun BTW) I was always tuned into ABC on Saturdays nights (which is really, really sad upon reflection)

I've also watched more That Girl (http://www.amazon.com/That-Girl-Season-4/dp/B0019BI114/ref=sr_11_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1218414023&sr=11-1)than I care to mention, I went through a Marlo Thomas phase in my late teens. This fourth season DVD is probably not the show at it's best, in 1970 it's likely looking pretty dated and out of steam. I do enjoy seeing the many whacky outfits Ted Bessell wore however.....

I had that Robin MOC and sold it - stupid, stupid, stupid. I also had the Batman as a kid and still have it. I'd like to get another Robin to go with him.

Gonna have to get that Filmation DVD.

Isn't Fantasy Island all kinds of awesome now in a camp sort of way? The one with Roddy McDowall as the devil is my all time favourite.

Man, how often did Robin get that prominent of packaging, with nary a Batman element in sight? That package is beautiful. I never had that as a kid, but man I wish I had!

I need to get caught up on my DC Filmation DVDs. Now we just need the 60s Batman, finish up the 60s Superman, and then both animated and live Shazam!

My favorite Fantasy Island had Bob Denver as a super hero, as I recall.

Eagle Man!

Eagle Man? Well, that explains how my 3 3/4 Mego Luke Duke and a little Silly Putty became my first super hero creation...Eagle Man! I smell a lawsuit.

That Robin card is probably the best of the bunch, though the apes are pretty bad a** as well. Is that the only version of Robin, or was he released on different cards through the 70's and 80's, like Spidey, Bats and Supes were?

This is from the 81 Catalog, it shows that Superman, Spiderman and Batman got their cards redesigned in 1977, Cap and Hulk's cards reflect a 79 change to black but that's it. I doubt Robin lasted past 76

Looks like AHI, just like Mego started Pairing back their hero offerings and going right to the core. Sad, I like a variety.

I'm really giddy I have this information BTW.

Man I LOVED my Batman parachute figure! I kept it for ages fter the parachute was ripped up. No idea what ever happened to it.

My cousin and I both had the Space 1999 lasrer as well. I loved that thing. We had many backyard adventures with them until they just disappeared. Woolworth was awesome. :)

I'd really love to have all of those parachutist's. The Robin and Shazam may be nearly impossible to find, though.

Ah yes, Saturday night watching Love Boat and Fantasy Island while curled up on the couch eating a big bag of potato chips. I did that more times than I care to mention. :smiley1:

I'm surprised it took this long for Love Boat to come out on DVD. I was assuming there was some sort of rights issue that had to be straightened out or something. I don't know how the show would hold up for me today, I haven't watched it since I was a kid.

Love Boat was one of those shows I remember watching, but I don't really know why. I don't think any of us watched it that closely, it was just on. I remember liking it okay.

I think shows like that are long gone. Programs now are either geared directly at kids, or they are WAY too adult for little kids, even at 8 PM on the major networks. The days of the true family show are dead and gone, I'm afraid.
