Larami Martian Chronicles dolls ADVICE PLEASE FROM COLLECTOR

I purchased a 3 figure set of the Larami Martian Chronicles figures on card from Lou's selling out sale. These dolls boddies are really CHEAP and lightweight. He explained that the figs are on cards but due to the cheap glue and age, the figures are basically free to remove. Fine, no problem and I got a nice price for them.

I must mention that I will be displaying these dolls.

So, here are the possibilities from which I need your advice.

    1. Should I remove figures from cards and of course store cards and display?
    2. Remove heads from figures, put heads on Dr. Mego or real mego boddies and display?
    3. attempt to re-glue fig to card and display. (not really into the wrapper look).

someone interviewed a person who worked with Larami on the MC .he stated they always intended that kids would switch the heads with mego body.

I say if the cards really bad or you can't re-glue the bubble so it looks good. Then Remove em, but only if you have somewhere to display them. If not then just leave them the way they are and put them in a case for storage.

If you decide to remove and display them I would definately change the bodies unless you have a stand to help em stand up better. I love keeping Figures original.

Nice Buy. I really like those figures alot.

I think it depends on what you find their 'charm' to be. If you're entertained by the fact that they're such obviously shoddy toys (there is admitted appeal in those sorts of old collectibles), then I'd say leave them with their original bodies and stand them with doll stands. Display them with the packaging behind them. (Neat graphics there.)

Otherwise, if you're just looking for a very interesting alien figure toy, why not swap their bodies out with better stuff - or at least one of them as an example.

Nope, John met a former Larami salesman and they briefly talked about the Martian Chronicles figures, the two interesting things mentioned were:

                      1) The bodies were cheap on purpose, Larami figured the kids would swap them with their Mego figures

                      2) There was never even a thought about producing a Rock Hudson doll.

I probably have that article somewhere, it was well written, you could smell the disdain this guy had about these questions.

If I had these, I'd display them outside of the cards, and definitely on their original bodies, I'm a purist that way. That's the way they were sold, so why put them on a different body? If the cheap bodies have problems standing up by themselves, I'd use doll stands. And I'd display the empty cards behind the figures. My two cents.

                          damn…

I have GOT to get myself a set of these. Or, I should say, reacquire a set of these, because I distinctly remember having at least two of these as a kid.

These beg to be swapped out with Doc Mego bodies and displayed with the Keeper, much in the same way Mego’s Lizard is displayed right next to the Gorn in my Star Trek display.

No. You need to make casts of the heads, then place the new castings on Doc Mego bodies.

                            Bob

And then sell castings to all of us here.

I didn't get the card, sadly, but I did swap the head and outfit (keeper robe in different fabric) out to an original Mego body when I got the one I found. The bodies are pretty bad - much worse than AHI or Tomland imo.

I'd agree it all depends on your love of the misfit. (I adore the star raiders but even I couldn't warm up to the martian bodies... that sounds wrong).
So in my case I'd probably swap mego bodies in and display them in front of the cards, with the bodies stored safely away (out of sight) for future generations.
