Help with posting photos

I was trying to upload a jpg and start my gallery on the new forums, but every time, I get an error message. I select the pic using "Browse," and use all the drop-down menus, but it still won't upload. What am I doing wrong?

There are several possibilities I can think of:

Your picture may be larger than your allotted storage space. It sounds silly, but I have lots of pictures that are larger than 5 MB.

You may not be waiting long enough. Pictures upload slowly, then have to be approved for final "processing" before they're visible.

Is the format of your pictures on the approved list? The User Gallery only accepts JPG, JPEG, BMP, PNG, and GIF. Sometimes the extension doesn't match the true format of the picture.

It's saved on my hard drive as a jpg. The message I keep getting says "Invalid file" and a few lines down, it says there is no picture.
