You Have Got To Be Kiddin Me.

So I began opening up my CTVT Space 1999 dolls. Out of 5 I opened and moved the legs around, 3 broke and were VERY BRITTLE. It appears that they break from the cheap plastic bands and or loops used for the legs and arms. THESE DOLLS ARE CHEAP AND BREAK!!

So anyways, should I call them and ask for replacements or deal with it? I am not opening these up and leaving them in the cards. Basically a waste.

I'd call. A broken toy is no fun and you should get your money's worth.

I buy CTVT figures,.. or Have.
I just throw away the Bodies,.. & switch out everything to a Doc Mego, or a Type2 Body. Been doing it this way for a Very long time. The Heads, clothing & assor. are all still fantastic stuff,... Even more so at the prices they are now selling everything at.

They are good about replacing stuff. I'd call or email them about it. They know they have a crap product.

I agree with Jason. Any time I ever bought a CTVT figure, I always went into it knowing I would swap out the body with original mego or Doc Mego bodies.
I would do this even if the CTVT body was not broken. CTVT bodies suck even when they are not broken. But, the rest of the figures are usually excellent stuff, heads clothes acc, all top notch.

              Why CTV bodies suck

One of the attendees at Mego Meet is a plastics engineer.

He told me that the reason why the CTV bodies are so
brittle is that they used a high rate of recycled plastic
              in making them.

It costs less than using virgin plastic, but you can see
              the results.

Yeah...it's real shame that they cheaped out on that recycled Plastic...because They make a teen Titans Body...I need some...but I know it's CRAP!

I thought I saw one of mine that said "Coke" on the back. Must have been a really bad re-mold. I know there have been some issues in China lately, and the Olympics aren't helping, but they definately know what they're doing most of the time. Obviously you can't say that for other countries and their production. Sometimes when you go searching for the cheapest you get what you're looking for.

                      Hmmmm....

I'd call. I've got a bunch of 1999 figures and the first sets were really bad. The later ones were pretty good: almost Mego quality; but you never know if you're getting old or new bodies until you've got them.

Doc Mego makes really good bodies; don't know if he's got white boot ones, but you could probably slap the CTVT legs on a DocBod. Transplanting the heads and clothes to a new bod would fix things up pretty good.

It's been kinda hit or miss with the bodies. I got an 8-inch red CTVT body and it had the upper arms from a 6-inch body. As soon as I raised the arms, the rubber bands pulled them inside the arm holes in the torso. It was funny when it happened, but I was fortunate to have spare arms. Other bodies from CTVT have been great.

I had that happen with all of my black MerryMen-style belts: brittle & broken.
But the purple, yellow, brown, & white ones seem fine so far.

CTVT bodies are fine for those of us that customize on the cheap. I always keep a couple of spare bodies so that I will have replacement legs, feet, etc. The first thing that I do is cut the bands and re-string them like TI megos. They will actually stand up after they are re-strung. Of course, you can't beat a Dr. Mego body for quality.
